Best Mexican Food?

Outside of jumping in a car and driving two hours South OR going to my friend Rose's house for her home cooking...

Just take the train to Olvera Street. Second stall on the right side of the street.

All three places listed are not really great unless you want Americanized Mexican food.

Not the Casa comes closest, however.

Do you have a name for the place on Olvera street? And perhaps and address?
Thanks.

I always forget this...and you can show your AAA card or AP and get a discount at Rancho too.

pixiewings71, thank you SO much for this info.!!
NOW we're talking! :)

I show my AP anytime I'm buying food at DLR.

Well, I don't show it at BurrBank ice cream or at Royal Street Veranda anymore, b/c they aren't listed on the AP discount pamphlet, and they have said NO every time I've asked, but everywhere else, oh yeah, I make sure to get that discount.

I forgot I ate at Cucina Cucamonga at DCA also...I liked it a lot. I got a margarita at the nearby margarita stand and it was our only sunny day and we sat at the wharf and ate. I got the chicken tacos. My son got the BC burrito. I was always starving when I ate so everything tasted great. But I love Mexican food and can it eat good, bad or just so-so. Gimme some salsa and chips and a margarita if one is available and life is good!! :goodvibes

Oh, I wish I did. It is the one restaurant that looks more like a stall. Olvera Street is a walk street, so there are no addresses (like for when a car is looking from the street for an address).

It is the one place that has a sign that says, "Order to go at the window, or be seated and we will serve." They have very little seating and the food is served on paper plates. Two fellows run the place and they have an A rating.

I wish I culd eat the Olvera Street Mexican food but as a veggie most of it is no go :(

But I am ready to have someone teach me how to clean nopales cause I am hooked on them right now yummy!

I have only eaten at Rancho and its not bad, its pretty basic and everything seemed good. I like the tostadas because they are well priced and big enough to share and delicious!
