Best method to modify park reservations (AP, with resort reservation)?

Hi all,

Working on making our park reservations for our March trip. Myself and 2 others in our party have AP’s, the rest have multi-day park hopper’s. We will be staying on-site. I recall a few months ago that if you’re an AP and you make the park reservations under the category of “AP, with resort reservation”, you cannot modify those reservations. You still have to cancel and rebook, which is risky. Is that still correct?

So the advice I got from someone was to make the park reservations simply as an AP (not as a resort guest) for the maximum of 5 days, and those reservations can still be modified. And then for the additional days (we’ll be there for 9) use the other bucket (AP with resort reservation) - but should we need to modify those it will be a cancel/rebook option only.

Does anyone know if this is still the case, and have recent experience with these AP resort reservations? I know the rest of our party should be fine with modifications assuming there is availability.

Many thanks!

When you go into your MDE, to the right of each reserved park, there will be a "Manage Reservations" box. Click on that and it will walk you through any necessary changes. Intimidating the first time, but not hard. Have a great trip!

Thanks so much. I had made a reservation as an AP/resort guest so just went ahead and tried to modify as you indicated and it appears to work. Perhaps I got mis-information (or the prior glitch that was going on few months ago has been corrected). Good to know!

The fixed this. They can all be modified now.

The only problem you will run into is if you change the resort you are staying at. If you end up changing to a different resort (by cancelling and rebooking) you won't lose the park reservations, but you will lose the ability to modify them (it will spit out an error when you try to). I ran into this recently. When you book with a resort reservation using an AP, the reservation is tied to that specific resort stay.

Ah got it, thanks so much for that info!
