I think I might want to stay there in the future....Just wondering where/when we should eat to get the most of our brief visit there. Of course I'd like a good meal, but really want to nose around and see what the place is all about- animal viewing, etc. Any recommendations for the best way to do that?
Thanks!

I don't know that any one restaurant would be better than another for that. The only restaurant where you can see the savanna from the seating area is Sanaa, but that's at Kidani, so you wouldn't see the main Jambo house from there, which would give you a better "feel" for the resort as a whole. I would say pick whichever of the restaurants best fits your budget and food tastes, then go a little early or stay a little late just to wander and check out the resort a bit.

Although attending a meal isn't necessary to check out AKL, I recommend Boma, Jiko and even Mara for a meal at the AKL Jambo House. Boma has a great buffet of African/American cuisine that my family loves. Jiko is an excellent signature restaruant offering African influenced cuisine that is a bit upscale. Mara is AKL's counter service eatery, which offers some flavorful ethnic food, as well as basic eats. I find Jambo House to be fun to attend just prior to dusk. After a meal, you can easily get to many public viewing areas where the animals are often active and easily viewed.

For another great animal viewing opportunity, I recommend going to Sanaa at Kidani Village for lunch. Wow! The restaurant is really lovely, and views out on the intimate savannah can't be beat. Also, the food happens to be great! As you can see, I love AKL and all of its dining possibilities!

Bomas has a really diverse buffet and the atmosphere is great.

We love Boma. It's one of our favorite restaurants on property. It's in the main lodge so it gives you a great feel of the atmosphere, and it's just a short walk to see the savannahs. Definitely worth it!

As a side note, we just stayed at AKL in January and while it was beautiful, we found that it was SO far away from everything! It felt like we were on the busy for an hour every time we wanted to go back to the hotel. It was a great one time thing, but I don't think we'll be staying there again. We love the WL, and it's very similar in style while being MUCH closer to MK and Epcot!
