Im wondering if some levels are better than others on the Fantasy? I was thinking Deck 5 (4E). But is it better the higher you go? Would Deck 6 or 7 be better?? :confused3 Its my first cruise ever. If it matters, there are two adults and two children.

Thanks!

EDIT: I wanted to add that I have two TEENS, not younger children. Ages 13 & 14.

This is totally subjective.....some swear higher is better (and that is why they cost more). On the Fantasy/Dream you can't look straight down to the water from your verandah. You can look straight out, but the lifeboats block the view straight down.

I think you have plusses and minuses with every deck. We stayed on deck 5 on our cruise on the Fantasy and loved it. It was close to the kids club, one flight down to deck four with the adult lounge and 2 restaurants.

We were in a 4E, we booked a 7A GTY and were upgraded. I don't know if I would pay for a 4E I think they are expensive for the type of room you get, but did love deck 5.

We are big fans of Deck 9! Deck 10 had a bit too much noise from the open deck and other stuff on Deck 11. Deck 9 is nice for quick access to the open upper decks but still not too far from the entertainment decks below. Though I think for me being mid ship (vs. forward or aft) is more important than which deck up or down. At the end of the day I'd stay with the crew to be on the Fantasy!

Good question becauase im interested to know as well! :goodvibes

Interesting. So you think its most important to be mid ship rather than fwd or aft. Something to consider. Great tip! :thumbsup2

I guess it all depends. When I was on the Disney Fantasy I had a stateroom with a window on deck 6 and it was great. They say if you are prone to get seasick it best to stay in the middle of the ship and closer to the bottom, but I don't get seasick so that doesn't matter to me. When I book my stateroom I make sure that I do not stay next to any laundry rooms, not below any dinning areas, bars, club rooms, theaters or any high traffic locations. I usually prefer a window as well but it all depends on what I've budgeted for that cruise. I hope this helps.

We've stayed on deck 6, 7 & 8 on the Fantasy. I can't say I have a preference. We also stayed on deck 5 on the Dream and I like deck 5 for the convenience of the kids club. We've stayed Aft, Mid & Forward and again, not much difference…to US anyways.

I think what matters is if anyone is prone to motion sickness. If so, read below.

We were on deck 12 forward, which is awesome due to concierge. I will say that when we needed to hoof it back to PC at max speed due to leaving CC very late it was a pretty rough ride, much worse then what we encountered on the wonder going to Hawaii. Not sure how it was for the rest of the ship, but higher and forward seemed to be a rougher ride in general. I loved it and slept like a baby, DW didn't and barely slept that last night due to the rocking and rolling of the ship.

We did an inside on the Dream toward the back on deck 7 or 8 and it was a much smoother ride overall.

We are partial to deck 9 on the Fantasy/Dream ships. Have had deck 10 cabins and they were nice but subject to noise from deck 11 pool areas. Also, the overhang from deck 11 provides a lot of shade on deck 10 but not as much on deck 9 (veranda cabins of course).

Just off the Fantasy Saturday and we were on Deck 6, aft. My only complaint is when we were booking it back from San Juan to CC it got pretty rough, like earthquake shaking the whole room all night rough. It wasn't as vibrate-y on the couch as it was on the bed. That was literally my only complaint though. We only a few decks up or down from pretty much anything, and I didn't find the walk from aft to forward a big deal.

Also, for us traveling as just a couple, being in the aft had us close to Palo/Remy as well as the adult only district, and straight up the elevators to Cabanas, which was nice.

Are you specifically looking for the oversized verandahs on deck 5? If so, that might make those 4E rooms worthwhile...just depends on how much time you think you will spend out there.

Otherwise, the cost difference between 4E and 4A rooms is usually small enough (relative to the cost of the cruise!) that I think I would move to 9, for the reasons already stated.

I would avoid the 5th floor like the plague! IMHO, being close to the Kids Club would just mean more noise and traffic. I liked the 8th floor on our cruise last month.

:lmao: I JUST saw the floor plans and OMG you are right!!! Im going to AVOID Deck 5 like the plague! I was thinking about this floor....but not anymore!

my favorite deck on any DCL ship is deck 7. It is pretty much in the middle of where we want to be. Usually we are going to deck 3, 4 or deck 9,10,11 depending on the ship.If sailing on the Dream or Fantasy, recommend forward or aft if you think you are going to use elevators. Terrible design for the mid-ship elevators IMHO. On the Magic and Wonder there is not as bad of elevator issue.

MY DW and I were determined to walk everywhere and not use the elevators. But, because we sailed with a person with knee problems last time on the Fantasy, the elevators came more into play.

Again, DECK 7!

I was leaning towards Deck 7 actually! I figure, its smack in the middle. Nothing noisy above or below. Seems perfect!

I have to laugh....on Deck 5 there's a kids club AND vibe club. Deck 5 is out of the question. Deck 6 is out too, I dont want to be above all that noise. So Deck 7 or 8 it is!

Yep, as PP stated - which deck is "best" depends entirely on who you ask! :goodvibes

We were in an 8C on the Fantasy last year. Deck 8, forward, starboard. VERY quiet, very close to the forward elevators... it was a perfect location for us (2 adults, 2 teens).

Thank you everyone for your help. You guys are awesome!! :flower3:

We have two teens as well (sorry, I should have specified that in my original post). So im thinking Deck 7 & 8 is also perfect. Forward starboard? So thats closer to the front of the ship? :confused3 Sorry im clueless. :(

Keep on reading the DCL Forum - you'll catch on pretty darned quick. I was beyond clueless when I started the research for our cruise. The people on this forum are just so wonderfully helpful!!!!

Forward = front of the ship
Aft = back of the ship
Mid = middle of the ship

If you're standing on the ship facing forward:
Starboard = the right side of the ship
Port = left side of the ship

Starboard vs Port side had me floundering for a while until someone posted - "left" and "port" both have 4 letters in the words. :goodvibes:

As I had said, our cabin was starboard forward. We had a beautiful view of Castaway Cay while we were docked! :cloud9:

We stayed on deck 7 midship last cruise on the Dream...booked same cabin on the Fantasy for our cruse this year. Deck 7 was very convenient to all the other decks.
