best learned tips for FP+

What I do is get the three FP+ I want for each park day, and then go back and change the time for each attraction to the ideal time slot for it.[/QUOTE]

So, I just want to make sure I understand what you are saying... should someone go through and get their FPs for their entire trip selected regardless of the times they get (and try to get the times for the farthest away from the real times that you want to allow for the greatest flexibility when changing,) then go back and change the times to the times they want?

Yes.
IF those times are still available for those attractions, of course.

That is always a consideration in FP+ pre-booking... Making changes only works
if there is still availability of the attraction and/or time for the desired changes.

Thanks, Robo!!

Yes, of course, the times have to be there! I was really just wondering which order/strategy seemed to work best. Taking the time to get the right time each day or going through the week then going back and changing to get the best time.... Neither way has a guarantee, but I was wondering which way people have found to be more successful....

It probably doesn't make a lot of difference.

I've only done GFTL (grab-first-tweak-later) and I have been able to change the attractions to the times I want. I've never tried tweaking each day's schedule before moving on to the next day, because of the limited availability of some attractions (we never do Anna & Elsa, but have had trouble getting 7 Dwarfs Mine Train for a large group at 60 days).

One trip, I had trouble getting Big Thunder Mountain for one particular day; others on the DIS commented about having the same difficulty for that particular day, so don't know what the issue was. Anyway, I was able to get Big Thunder for all 4 of us at 4 different times, and then over the course of the next week or so, was able to change our times to where we finally had overlapping times so could ride together.

Thanks, Robo!!

Thanks so much.... This is our 1st FP+ trip, and I am nervous about booking them. Luckily, it's only DH and myself so we will survive if I can't get everything we want!! However, I do like to have the best strategy in place... so I like the GFTL idea!!

Thanks, Robo!!

I too was wondering how people were getting them. So you should pick each day, then go back and modify the times? Do you start on day 1 and go to the end or from the end of the trip to the first day when selecting FP?

I start on the day with the hardest-to-get FP+s. For example, on our upcoming March trip, my order was:
1) MK day on which I wanted 7DMT
2) Both Epcot days (where I figured Test Track might be hard to get, with Soarin down)
3) Arrival day (since we would not arrive in the park till the afternoon, and also more people arriving before us had more opportunity to book FP+ for our Day 1 than for our Day 2, etc.)

Frankly, though, I haven't found it difficult to get what we want at midnight Eastern time 60 days out (we don't try to get Anna & Elsa, Wishes, or MSEP, however).
