Best Kong Strategy

I'm not sure if this is even the right place for this, or if anyone would even have an answer but it's worth a shot- What's the best strategy for getting on Reign of Kong with a minimal wait? We're staying on property 7/13-7/15. Should we go in for the HP extra hour like normal, but try to work our way over towards Kong as it gets closer to regular park opening? Or should we try to hit it as the last thing we do before we go back for the night? I'm assuming Express passes aren't being used for this ride. Thanks for any tips!

Kong is not officially open yet, but should be by your travel time. What do you define as minimal? I rode twice last week during soft openings, both times with waits of approx 90 minutes. Judging by the lines that formed "hoping" it would open, I am not sure you will get there any faster.

It would make good sense if they include it in Early Entry, but nothing is confirmed yet. By the way, we felt it was worth the wait!!!!

I'm really wondering whether it will be fully open July 4th weekend. If it's still "soft," there is no way I'm getting in line at 1pm, in the hopes that it open at 4pm....
If it is fully open, I'll likely try to do it with early entry at 7am.

for the times its been opened during these soft openings, have they allowed Express Pass holders from the on site hotels skip ahead of the lines?

In line right now with a 60 minute wait with no guarantees of riding. But this is the shortest line I have seen yet. Everyone enters the same line.

We are going towards the end of July with 4 park days.
I haven't been to Universal in a few yrs and have never stayed onsite so I'm unsure as to how their EA works. Is the rest of IOA roped off until general admission?
I'm hoping to use one of the EA days to just wait at the HP/JP exit/entry so we can hustle over to Kong as soon as the rest of the park opens.

Onsite hotel guests can enter the park one hour prior to park official opening time
You show your room key to to in early
Well worth it if you plan to do the potter section

In July the parks will be busy so you will be able to do potter without heavy crowds

Update--- we got stopped going right after the doors closed. The ride began again with some issues. We started up again and got stuck at the very end. We had to be taken off the ride vehicle right after Kong. Then the ride was down for 30 to 45 minutes. I would love to go non stop through it but we were not waiting again. There were some good parts going through the jungle. All in all it was a cool ride. ----

I don't know what it will be like in July but yesterday we waited 2 hours for it. It was up and down the whole time like we expected. Que is great. My husband loved it but we got the worst seats - right behind the driver- and my 5 foot 2 inch daughter couldn't see a thing over the tall people next to her.
My husband loved it, I thought it was fun but not worth more than an hour wait and my daughter hated that we waited all that time and says she won't ride it again until the waits are lower. My husband and I may try again today.

It was 70 minutes on Friday night right before close. The wait time issues seem to come from the ride breaking down, not from ride capacity.

Is the ride opening daily now? Are there predictable hours of when it's running?
I'll be there this weekend...... I'm not standing around in the hope that it may or may not open.
