I am looking to get my girls (4 and 6) nice little backpacks to travel with. I don't want to get school bookbags. They have ones that are from personal creations that are cute but the one has velcro and not a zipper and everything falls out so I want something w a zipper. Any suggestions?
Code:

Specifically I want something they can take in the car on roadtrips and also take on the plane. So I don't want anything too big.

Personally - I would skip "cutesy" and go for something that is functional, and won't rip or other malfunction. I was at a meet a couple of years ago, and while I purchased the "meet's logo'd product" I had to return it 3 times, and finally got my money back. I then purchased an ORANGE Tennessee-Volunteers drawstring backpack from the college bookstore.

So - that is my 1st and 2nd recommendation - drawstring backpack, and something that will last.

3rd recommendation - my drawstring backpack was bright orange. My team members as well as their parents could see me about a mile away (OK - that is an exagerration - but hopefully you get the point!). If you had little ones - I would get them something that is bright. You'll be able to spot them in a minute if you accidentally get separated.

Now - FWIW - I know you want something that Zips - and I totally respect that opinion. I love the "cinch" it concept, and nothing will fall out.

Just whatever you get - make sure you don't get something cheap that will fall apart the first time you use them.

I still continue to use my bag on a fairly regular basis, and it was WELL worth the $15 or so I spent on it. (It is an Adidas brand if my memory serves me correctly.)

Our daughter has the wheeled backpack from Garnet Hill that she uses for her carry-on. We travel frequently, and it has held up wonderfully!
If you aren't looking for wheels, their traditional backpacks are great too. Plenty of zippered compartments and very durable!

Good luck, and happy traveling!

Thanks! I am looking at llbean ones now. I want something small enough and not on wheels and they seem to have some good ones.

To the poster who mentioned the "cinch" type, I think that would be cool too! Where can I find them? I would actually like one for myself but I can never find them!

Thanks!

OK, Lands End ended up having what I wanted for the girls :) These will be great Christmas presents for them! I am excited!
