In your opinion, what is the best Italian Restaurant on WDW property? Thanks!

During our trip to WDW last year, my wife and I had lunch at Mama Melrose's at Disney- MGM Studios. The food was really good and it was relatively quiet that day we were there. I would recommend giving it a try.

Are you looking for the best Italian restaurant that's on the DDP as well? Mama Melrose is great, Alfredo's at Epcot is pretty good and Tony's at MK is okay. I've heard great things about Palio at the Swan resort but they're not on the DDP.

I consider Palio to be on Disney property and is the best. I like all the Italian restaurants mentioned above. Try reading the menus on this site or at
allearsnet.com to help you decide.

Palio by a mile. Portobello gets an honorable mention.

I guess Palio has it hands down. However, I am looking at the restaurants offered with the dining program which are Mama Melrose at the studios, Tonys at MK and Alfredos at Epcot. Any opinions on those? Thanks

Mama Melrose is medicore. It has good food, but very inconsistent and sometimes downright inattentive service. I think I remember reading a rumor a few months back that it's going to be rehabbed the beginning of next year -- if true, maybe that'll make a difference.

Tony's is mediocre. The food is okay, but a bit more basic than Mama Melrose's, at the same price. I like the atmosphere, but some folks find it a bit to "bright." The service was okay.

The negative reviews of Alfredo's have been so credible and so consistent over the years that it remains the only Epcot restaurant I've never eaten at.

If you really want Italian, and you really want it on the Dining Plan, I think your best bet is Spoodles. While not strictly an Italian restaurant, it does have the following items on the menu:

Appetizers:

Four Cheese Flatbread - with roasted garlic puree and sage $7.29

Flatbread - with olive tapanade, red and yellow tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese $7.29

Entrees:

Rigatoni with mild Italian sausage, tomatoes and portobello mushrooms $16.79; add shrimp or scallops $6.29

Fettuccini Alfredo $16.79; add shrimp, scallops, or chicken $6.29

Desserts:

Homemade Gelato $5.69
