What does everyone reccomend for a good Italian rest. in the world. I have tried to get ADR's for Mama Melrose but it is sold out for all the times that we could do. Go fig. I can get CRT but not Mama Melrose :confused3

Portobello Yacht Club is the best Italian restaurant in our opinion. I come from an Italian restaurant family - my entire 35 years has been spent eating a variety of Italian foods, and none compares to my Nona's or my Dad's cooking, but, Portobello sure comes close. It is very good! Mama Melrose is the next best (sorry you can't try it) - always a must do for us as we always have great food (veal is amazing) and great service!

Alfredo's in Epcot was very underwhelming to say the least, and Tony's is one of the only TS restaurants (we've eaten almost every TS in the world) we won't try as sauce out of a can doesn't appeal to us.

Happy eating, Tiger :)

I would say I did like Portobello, but I also like Alfredo's... think Mama Melrose is generic Italian....sorry, but I am Italian so it just came out of my mouth.... ;) :) Also, Palio at the Swan is closing September 3 and a new Italian Restaurant will be opening there in early 2007.. I hear it is quite the restaurant in New York, Il Mulino New York Trattoria. I also like Spoodles which is sort of Mediterranean, but you can have some flatbreads and pasta there.

I personally loved Portobella as well! I actually forgot about it and I'm going to try and book it now for our November trip. Thanks for the idea! I strongly recommend it. popcorn::

We used to love Portobellos but the menu has changed so much and there just isn't the variety as there used to be. We just ate there last week and were so disappointed. We eat there every time we are at Disney. DH loved his pasta (after he finally got it - mix up in orders) but my pizza was horrible. We never minded the price because of the variety and quality but this time it was way to expensive for what we got.

Thanks for the replies. I think we will try Portebellas, sound yummy

I don't know if it's considered "Italian" ("Mediterranean" is close enough for me).....but Spoodles is great. I know it gets a lot of mixed reviews on this site, but this was absolutely the best meal we had the whole trip. Great service too!

While Mama Melrose is my favorite, I also enjoy Alfredos. And while not exactly an "Italian" restaurant, we have had great pasta, meatball, pizza, and ravioli at Wolfgang Puck. :thumbsup2

Well, I haven't found a great one yet but I CAN tell you which to avoid ...

Alfredo's & Tony's. Blah!

Mama Melrose has the best Italian food. We always go there before viewing the Spectacle of lights at the Studios!!!! Alfredo's is gross and Portobello Yacht Club is soso....but not really a Disney restaurant, so I boycot going there> hahahahaha

There are no great Italian restaurants in WDW. Alfredo's is above average si thats my pick. You can probably find a better place where you live.

Ive never been to one but it looks (from their website) that the Il Molino thats opening in the Swan will be very nice. Dont know when your trip is, but from what I can tell it'll open early next year. It looks nice tho- read: not so cheap as some others-- but the food choices look very good.

Mama Melrose's is best lunch or dinner; Tony's for lunch :thumbsup2 Absolutely NOT Alfredo's :stir: snooty wait staff and barely edible entrees (exception is their signature dish). We've given it chances over 10 years, but the experience never changes. We will NOT be giving them another chance.
