I just read the "Best Chinese?" thread so I thought I would start my own based on my favourite type of cuisine, Indian. I am staying on International Drive and don't have a car so can anyone advise me as to which is the best Indian Restaurant in the area?

You are lucky as one of the best is near I Drive,Can't remember the name but here are the directions
Its off International drive, tucked in a small shopping mall behind the famous worlds largest mac'Donalds.
if you were driving from Wet & Wild towards Seaworld, you will come to a major intersection, with Mac'Donalds on the right corner, turn right at the intersection and drive under the I4. Take the next right turn at the light. Follow the road for a couple of hundred yards then you will see a shopping plaza on your right. The indian restaurant is in that plaza. You will not get a better curry in Florida.

Never been to this one but NEVER go to the one called Passage to India I think.

Gave us the worst food poisioning for about 3 days.
Since then have found out many people have experienced the same.

I will definatley look out for the one mentioned above.

Unfortunatly we ate in!!

Well picked at the food not actually eating.

Nic would like to point out that his lamb dish still had the leg and ankle joint attached. And the side order of spinach and mushroom blended to a milkshake consistancy.

I bet you will not be returning there again in a hurry?

Same happened to us in California - had a bad chinese meal, all of us had upset stomachs the following day - suffice to say it's put me off chinese food for life.

Its terrible isn't especially on holiday.

The worst chinese for us by far is Ming Court. Admittedly the place is amazing but the food is of terrible quaility. Their idea of what crispy duck was meant to be was hilarious, I mean when was crispy served greasy, fatty, cold and therefore slimey. My broccoli also came with bad black bits, lovely.

I 've heard a few people say they had bad food from Ming Court - I always wonder how they mange to stay in business.?

I think your description of their cuisine would put folk off going there for life..LOL

I agree it's terrible to get that kind of service, especially whilst on holiday, seems to happen all over now, and if nobody complains I bet they just keep up their low standards.

Isn't that so true of a lot of places now - there's absolutely no need for it - the restrooms should always be kept spotless in restaurants.

I remember my daughter was in dire need of a toilet - so she ran into Denny's, the one closest to Belz, she described it as the worst restroom she had used!!!

A good rule of thumb is always check the restrooms. If they are dirty - think what the kitchen is like because you can't see that!

This is a great thread. But the best curry I know of is in my own kitchen. Actually in the parks the only curry I know of is in Japan in Epcot at the Yakatory (spelling??) house. Not the greatest but considering Disney prices its a good value for what you get.

The new (spring 2003) Flavours of India restaurant got a very good write-up from the Orlando Sentinel critic, who is usually pretty tough on new restaurants. I haven't been there (Kirkman Road at the junction with I-Drive), but have seen some good reports, so will definitely be heading there myself next time! I have also eaten at Passage to India a couple of years ago and had a thoroughly excellent meal, but recent reports would certainly put me off.
