We have DQSDP so will eat most meals out. But we will have breakfasts and a few lunches in the resort room. Any suggestions beyond cereal and peanut butter sandwiches?

Thanks!

Pop Tarts, Granola bars, clif bars, oatmeal, trail mix. Can't think of many good lunch ideas. But with Quick service plan, you get two meals a day, so I'd use those for lunch and dinner.

I usually have a dinner roll or croissant with a piece of fruit for breakfast. At home I would have a piece of multi-grain toast instead, but I'm on vacation and don't always want to go out for breakfast--even to a food court to make toast! *LOL*

I've also been known to purchase some low-sodium ("lower") turkey at the deli (if I have a car), and add a very thin slice to the roll or toast for a bit of protein. I back up the fresh fruit with some fruit cups for later in the visit.

We travel with a small collapsible cooler or ship a foam cooler with consumable stuff in it, so keeping things cold isn't an issue. Just pack some one-gallon zip-top plastic bags (not the actual zipper ones--the sealing strips that press together don't leak) for ice. It's easier to change the ice out of the bags than to empty the cooler once or twice daily. You can tuck a hand towel or two in to absorb the condensation in hotter weather.

We usually don't eat lunch in the room, unless we're too tired to move!

Normally, we skip the in room breakfast in WDW b/c we get the dining plan & don't need it.
All of our other vacations or weekend trips, I buy nice bagels w/ sesame seeds & a veggie cream cheese.[keeps u full til lunch] I stick the cc in the fridge or if they don't have one the ice bucket works if you keep putting fresh ice in it @ night. I also keep a box of good crackers to put the cc on for a snack. WE also like to grab milk for the room [again if there is a fridge] Of course, cans of iced tea, soda & water. Whatever we feel like drinking. We'll also have pizza one night & take the rest to the hotel for cold pizza. However I don't like the WDW pizza & some people don't like cold pizza. I love it. Thats pretty much our menu for hotel room dining.=)

If you calculate how much $ u will spend eating out most of the time. The dining plan is well worth the $. If you don't already have it. I think if you plan to eat 2 or 3 table service meals in a week or less, that's the price of the DDP & tons more food than if you pay out of pocket. IMO it's worth it.i paid cash for years till the DDP came out & it's much less $ for more food.

Several times I have tried to come up with recipes for the room. Realistically, the best food items for us are simple. Bagels, toast, peanut butter, yogurt, fruit, and granola bars always get eaten. I also keep chips, salsa, and popcorn for some late night snacks. On the QCDP, we often use our snack credits for breakfast items too.

My daughter and I found that we could share one QS breakfast and one snack in the mornings and again at lunch and feel like we'd eaten plenty. That wouldn't have worked with hubby or our DS along though.

I like yogurt/fruit/granola breakfasts in the room. The individual serving yogurts are nice and easy to store and serve.

We do a lot of salad meals in the room too-chicken caesar, chef salad, pasta salad-things like that. I'm not a huge sandwich eater either.

Although I would not eat this stuff at home (too processed), canned spray cheese is very filling with good quality crackers. Pre-packaged salads, and cut veggies are a healthy option. But don't forget to include the cost of paper products. Obviously, if you're driving to Disney in your own vehicle, you can be flexible with food choices. I must agree that the Disney Dining Plan is a terrific value, especially if you have big eaters in your group. I would really have to question the cost of a rental car just to be able to leave the property to get to a grocery store.
Although I've never done this, many people pack a suit case with non-perishable items and then have an empty suitcase for souveniers and dirty laundry. It seems to work for them.
In-room breakfasts do not "stick" with us very long. They're usually higher in sugar content and we find ourselves ready for lunch by 10 am. I don't suppose there's any way around that...:confused3

This is assuming you have a fridge in your room. Yogurt, granola, muffins, cereal bars, and fresh fruit for breakfasts.
For lunch, you can just get some deli meat (ham or turkey work well) and wrap it on a cheese stick. Have some whole grain crackers with it.

With the QSDP you get 2 snacks per day. We take pop tarts and granola bars with us, but also some nights we will get a pastry/muffin or fruit bowl as a snack credit and have that for breakfast. I dont like to use CS credits on breakfast as the deal isnt quite as good.

We find we have plenty of food on the DDP without taking anything. Many of the CS meals are plenty big to share and a snack credit can be fine for breakfast as can the dessert you are too full from after a meal. We like some drinks for the room but really need little else.
