Best Illuminations Location for Dinner @ Epcot

I've read several recommendations online including Disney's Forum. Any recommendations from those that have watched Illuminations while dining? Any tips? We were thinking the best time to make a reservation would be around 7:15-7:30 in case of a wait times, to eat dinner and stay through. We will be visiting the last week of April/first week of May.

As long as it's understood you're not guaranteed to get a table with a view, I'd think anytime between 7 and 7:30 when Illuminations is at 9. I would assume you are considering either Rose & Crown or La Hacienda as they have the best views.

Yes, thanks. I know it's never guaranteed but hoping to get lucky. If not, we can always skip dessert and head outside to view. Yes, Rose & Crown was the other consideration, but we love Mexican and thought it would be fun. Thanks for the input.

Rose & Crown is the "best" option because even if you don't get a patio table, there is a reserved viewing area for guests of Rose & Crown. I actually like this option best because you can still enjoy the comforts of air conditioning (assuming it's hot and/or humid) and watch Illuminations.

La Hacienda has some tables with a view of Illuminations, more tables with a limited view, and tables without any view. If you do go, be sure to request a table with a view of Illuminations because some of the window tables face the wrong way and you won't be able to see anything.
