I've stayed at quite a few solo, and I think moderate is probably the way to go. For the values, I stayed at ASMu twice in the Broadway section, and thought it was great. On a recent trip I decided to try ASMo. Upon arriving, taking FOREVER to check in, I walked into the room, walked back out and was moved to POR. The room was awful! It was dirty, still had people's stuff in it, and the decor looked like a cheap motel. Luggage was stacked up and down the halls, and and it was just really unpleasant.
For the deluxe resorts I've stayed at Contemporary, WL, AKL, Boardwalk, and Yacht and Beach Club (both). Location is amazing for CR and the Epcot resorts, but I usually left feeling like I wasted money since I wasn't in the room much.
I've stayed in all moderates except CBR, and I'm torn. Coronado had the nicest rooms, but it didn't feel very "Disney." I also didn't care for the food court. The two PO resorts are my favorites when everything is taken into consideration, and I LOVE the Alligator Bayou section of POR. Just feels quaint, cozy, and fun. Plus, POFQ doesn't have it's own dining...so I think POR is my favorite.
