Best Hotel You've Ever Stayed

Our honeymoon at La Blanc in Cancun. It was a smaller, spa type resort, it was so relaxing and the customer service was amazing. I would love up go back some day but we would have to skip a few wdw to do it and we would rather Disney

The Dolphin at Disney. Good times my family shared there the few times we went there. Great pool, too. :)

Hard Rock at Universal Orlando. Excellent service, motivated and friendly employees, very nice rooms. You can see in my signature below which WDW hotels I've stayed. The closest one to the Hard Rock would be Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Very tough to choose - we really love The Royal York & Faulkner Hotel in Devon, it is a really old building - like stepping back in time when you enter the revolving door - it's been family run for generations and they really care about their guests.

Total opposite but again fantastic customer service is the super luxury Playacar Palace, Playa del Carmen, Mexico - first time we visited was for my son's wedding and we've returned twice since then.

At Disney our favourite is POFQ - again excellent customer service and we love the location and quiet after a hectic day in the parks!

The Ritz Carlton, Kapalua. Excellent service, 1 bedroom suite, ocean/pool view. Huge balcony. Fun bartender at the pool bar. Nice spa. I could go on and on. This was an award trip for my husband, so best of all it didn't cost us much:)

The NICEST place I've ever stayed was the Waldorf Astoria, Park City, UT. It was pretty spectacular! However, personally, I'm not really a luxury sort of guy and tend to find things like turn-down service a little creepy. I think perhaps my favorite hotel I've ever stayed in was last year at the Hilton Tokyo Bay, overlooking Tokyo Disneyland. The hotel was very nice and the service exemplary. While the room was nothing particularly special, it was nice, comfortable, and had a heated toilet seat. Plus, the view was indeed of TDL, and it was a short walk to the Monorail stop. It was a wonderful experience.

The Inn at St John in Plymouth MI. It was gorgeous, attached to the original Seminary. The grounds were serene, the food ws amazing, the staff knowledgeable and friendly, and the room comfortable and spotless.

If you are loooking at just Disney, I woudl say the Grand Floridian. This resort is a perfect balance of stellar service, lovely rooms, beautiful grounds, great dining, and a friendly atmosphere.

I guess it's like comparing apples and oranges to me there are so many different types and levels of accommodations. Experience-wise, Grand Hotel, Mackinac Island. Truly like stepping back into bygone era. The dining from the decor, to the service to the food itself is something truly magical that even Disney can't touch. I feel lucky I've had a few opportunities to stay there in very low low season!

As a couple, I would say the Bali Intercontinental in Jamaran Bali. It was our honeymoon and it was a beautiful resort. beautiful room, great service, and in an amazing setting.

As a family, Aulani! Beautiful resort and lots to do.

When I was 18, I went with mom, my brother, and my grandmother on one of those bus-through-Europe tours. One night in Germany - and regretfully, I don't know where - we stayed at this place called either the See Hotel or the Sea Hotel (could have been either, we were nowhere near the sea). The rooms were decorated in Medieval decor, and the walls were all bare, painted brick. I think the building was probably 600-700 years old.

Arizona Biltmore. http://www.arizonabiltmore.com/

The Frank Lloyd Wright style is famous (the architect was not actually FLW, but Albert Chase McArthur) is clear - the strong geometric lines, stonework, and the replicas of the sprites.
Plus I love the history of the place - Ronald and Nancy Reagan honeymooned there, Marilyn Monroe swam in the pool, and Irving Berlin supposedly wrote "White Christmas" there.

On my dime - honeymoon at Four Seasons Wailea or Kahala Mandarin Oriental. For work - Four Seasons Bangkok.

We haven't stayed many fancy places but the most memorable ones for service, location and atmosphere have been the Moana Surfrider in Wikiki and the Royal Sonesta in the French Quarter.

I have a tie

Ritz Carlton Buckhead Atlanta
Barcelona Arts Hotel
Park Hyatt Washington DC
Four Seasons Hampshire UK
Secrets Maroma Beach Rivera Maya

Fairmont Pacific Rim- Vancouver (stayed on credit card points).
Our room had a perfect view of the Disney Wonder docking when we woke up in the morning!

Bukit Naga in Ubud, Bali.

Staff ratio to guest while we were there: 1 to 1. Talk about service. They even washed, pressed and folded my laundry, including the sweat socks. Ever had your socks pressed? I didn't think so. LOL.

And, the best part was the service was competent, and ever present (like they could GUESS when you wanted something and get it right) without being obtrusive.

Ahhhh.

I'd go back there again in a heart beat.

TOO MANY TO PICK JUST ONE.

1) Grand Californian at Disneyland. It was in December. Santa was in the lobby all day. Nice surroundings, literally a 2 minute walk from our room to California Adventure.

2) Hanalei Plantation Hotel Resort. Kauai, Hawaii. Each room was a building unto itself on an unbelievably steep hill. Ours was right on the water. Parts of "South Pacific" and Elvis's "Paradise Hawaiian Style" were filmed there.

3) Keauhou Beach Resort, Kona, Hawaii. Hotel is built out into the ocean. As a 15 year old that impressed the heck out of me.

4) Bessborough Hotel, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Looks like a giant castle. It was built in the late 1920's. I was 8 when I stayed there, and it was like no other hotel I had ever stayed in before or since. Also, as a California boy, it was the first place I ever saw a steam radiator. Having known nothing but forced air heat, it seemed like such strange way to heat a building.

5) Holiday Inn Express Downtown San Diego. We have never received such outstanding service in our lives. From the outside, it looks like an old 1960's motel, nothing like any of the any other Holiday Inn Expresses that are almost identical. They have remodeled the inside, but the lengths they go to because their facility is older to make you feel welcome are unbelievable. A free shuttle van that takes you to, and picks you up from all the San Diego are attractions, not just the airport. A cocktail party every night, and the nicest people I have ever met.
