when we get married we will be in disney for 2 weeks in september (year unknown). the wedding would happen early on in the two weeks so we have all that time to relax and enjoy disney

well we arn't lucky enough to be able to stay in a deluxe for the whole duration so we have to split our time. where did everyone stay for their wedding? did you move hotels for the wedding night?

any hotels have that extra special touch to it (i.e. staff, rooms, views etc)

its so hard to decide where to stay

We stayed at the POFQ for our trip, but I moved to the Grand the night before the wedding, and we had two nights there after the wedding.

I would love to try the Poly if I could afford it. I loved to be able to see the castle from the hotel.

We are doing the Grand Floridian cause we have always wanted to stay there and the only way we can justify that type of spend is on our HM!

We are in the same boat, can't afford to spend the whole time at a delux and our wedding is early on in the trip. So we have booked 1 week at the Wilderness lodge and the rest of our stay at POP. Incidentally, all our guests must be wealthier than we are as they are staying the full 2 weeks at the Carribean Beach, lucky them!:rotfl:

My mom upgraded us to the Grand with Concierge for our Honeymoon. By far my favorite Hotel so I cannot wait. We initially booked the Wilderness Lodge which I have heard from many is also fabulous for a Honeymoon.

We are staying at CBR - which is an upgrade for us as we usually stay at POP, LOL. If the economy keeps going the way it is, we may just stay 2 nights at CBR and the rest at POP. I'm crossing my fingers for a room code either way. :)

We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn for our wedding (splurged on deluxe concierge) and loved it!

We stayed at the Poly concierge last month and while it was beautiful...I think the Boardwalk is more my style and well...will probably always have sentimental memories for me.

My friend swears by POFQ for it's romance and style...

It is hard to choose a resort! We went back and forth a hundred times!

Think of what makes you and your DF feel romantic and see if there's a resort that has that style.

Consider how much time you will be spending in the room. If you tend to get up early and get to the parks and stay there all day and the resort is only someplace to sleep, then maybe a value wouldn't be so bad since you aren't there that long.

If you are more the type to spend a lot of time at your resort, be sure that the style is one you'll enjoy.

One other thing to consider is what the park hours are like in September. They all close earlier so you might actually "have" to spend more time at your resort. Try to pick one that has a lot of other activities. The Boardwalk area has entertainment usually until 11pm, even when the parks close. Plus there is Jellyrolls and the ESPN club. You could consider the Swan/Dolphin for part of your stay too!

POFQ and POR (and a few others) are close to Downtown Disney so there is a lot of evening/late night activity there! That might be something you would enjoy even more.

In the end, it's so hard to say which one resort is more romantic or more fitting for a honeymoon because it's such an invididual thing.

We are staying at the GF since A) we have never stayed there before and it's our hm so we figured we'd splurge! and B) the monorail is right there which is definitely a plus!

Question for those who have been to the gf before--- is there a refrigerator in every room?

Where is the ceremony? The reception?

We were going to stay at the GF (ceremony in the wp) but we stayd at the BW in a garden suite. It had a ton of room since I had 9 girls getting ready and my mom got a 1 bedroom villa where the guys got ready. Plus our redpetion was at the BW which was nice since we just strolled to our room after and I reaaly wanted my pre ceremony shots at the Boardwalk not the GF. So there are many things to consider. you most likely wanted stay where or nearby where you will take your pics.

The whole BW staff was amazing...we got free gifts, lots of congratulations and great service. i have also had amzaing service at the GF but I did not stay there during my wedding. Had I stayed in Disney after my wedding (we went to Maui) I would have most likely stayed at the GF.

DH and I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. I checked in the day before the wedding, and he moved over from CBR the wedding night for the Honeymoon.

They offered us the honeymoon suite for the wedding night as our complimentary room, but we decided to use the comp night to are existing reservation.

I asked for an upgrade, and they gave us a small upgrade to woods view. The housekeeper also left us a note saying congratulations.

Another thing to consider - it can be a HUGE drag to check into a different hotel just for the wedding night, because you will have to be checked out of your old hotel by 11am and then get your luggage transfered and wait for it (or schlep it yourself).

We stayed at four different resorts over two weeks: Beach Club Villas on rented Disney Vacation Club points for 5 nights, 2 nights at the Contemporary with the discount from our room block, 5 nights at Animal Kingdom Villas on rented DVC points, and our free DFTW night at the Grand Floridian. With the long stretches in between, it didn't feel like too much moving, and we got to try a bunch of different places!

We stayed at POFQ and LOVED it! :lovestruc We got a really awesome room... it was on the top floor, king sized bed, corner room (double windows!), and had a great view of the river... it was perfect! We were really close to the boat for DTD also. The grounds are gorgeous also and it IS very romantic! :cutie: We are only going to stay at POFQ from now on! :)

We started out with 2 nights in the Contemporary with a MK view and then moved over the Boardwalk in a garden suite for 5 nights. Our wedding was at SBP and it made it so easy to just get ready and walk to the ceremony.

We're doing Contemporary, Tower Room with Magic Kingdom View. I've stayed there before and I love going to sleep and waking up with the MK in my sights :lovestruc

I'm staying at the Yacht Club prior to the wedding while my fiance is staying at the Contemporary.

The night of our wedding we'll be in the Contemporary tower.

The day after the wedding for our honeymoon we'll be in the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

This way we'll get to experience different places and then we'll end up in a quiet, remote, romantic location.

Depending on where you are having your wedding and reception, your hotel decision may be different.
We will be in Orlando for 4 days before the wedding. Most of us are doing the Disney 1/2 marathon or full marathon that weekend, so we are staying at Beach Club Villas the first several nights. It is very convenient to be able to walk through EPCOT from the finish line back to our resort. The night before the wedding we are doing our dessert party at Grand Floridian and I am staying there that night, though DH and our kids will be at BCV still. Our wedding night and the next night will be at GF because we've always dreamed of staying there and could never justify the cost. Then we are moving to another DVC resort, Wilderness Lodge Villas, because we love it there and we think it is very romantic. We also love that it is in close proximity to the Magic Kingdom.

If our wedding and reception were at the Boardwalk area, we'd likely want to stay in that vicinity, especially since it is so beautiful there. Then again, we LOVE Caribbean Beach. And I think Port Orleans is another really romantic resort. Many people would rather not spend a lot of money on accommodations on the belief that they won't spend much time at the resort and would prefer to spend the $$ on meals and special splurges. The nice thing is that there are SOOO many options and you really cant' go wrong.

HTH!

We stayed at the Boardwalk for most of our trip, except our free night, which we spent at the Grand. I love the BW the best. It's a more relaxed atmosphere than the Grand, and will probably always be my favorite!

I think where you stay depends on where you are getting married & where your family is.

We are getting married @ the WP & recptn is @ the GF, so we are staying at the Grand for the time before the wedding & after. Plus thats the only place my parents want to stay.

We are doing two nights at All Star Movies and then 4 nights at the Polynesian Honeymoon Suite:love: and then 3 night Cruise on DCL and then 1 night at the GF

We wanted to save some money by staying at a Value for the first two nights, but we will be staying there and so will my sister and her kids. My parents are doing Poly the whole week and then by the time we come back from the cruise we got one more relaxing night at the GF.

I did it this way because we couldn't use our comp night for a suite, and I just didn't think it was much of a value for us to use it at a value resort, so we decided to add an extra night after the cruise.

My Fiance really had his heart set on Poly, I wanted Boardwalk more, but than my MIL picked Boardwalk and well, no more explanation needed;)
I still really wanted a Jacauzzi tub and a King sized bed and there are very few at the Poly. It was quite a nightmare to find out details about the Honeymoon suite at the Poly through Disney reservations and the front desk. I read alot of the 'unofficial threads' but was worried because I found conflicting information. It two days and 6 different phone calls to find out if the Honeymoon suite had a Jacauzzi tub, king bed, and its view from the balcony :faint: :badpc:

We are going to split our time between 3 different hotels. We are arriving 5 days before the wedding at staying at OKW on our DVC points and then 3 nights (including our wedding night -the free one) at the GF concierege level and then the remaining 5 nights at AKV on our DVC points.

We were originally going to stay at POFQ before the wedding but that changed when we bought DVC in July. I also want the extra room in the 1 bd room suite because I will be having about 13 people in there at any given time.
