We plan on bringing my dd and her best friend to Universal this summer for 4 days. Which of the three hotels is best suited for 2 -15 year olds? Also, is it safe for them to wander around alone? Thanks!

I would recommend Hard Rock hotel. DS15 loved it. We went in summer and there were lots of teens/ tweens. We visited Portofino Bay, which was beautiful, but it definitely had more of an adult/ family vibe to it. I haven't been to RPR.

As far as letting them wander alone, only you know the girls. HRH is overall the closest to the parks/ City Walk and is an easy walk from any of them. We felt comfortable letting DS15 and DS11 stay at IOA a little later than the rest of us one evening so that they could ride Hulk again. We also felt comfortable with them watching their sister poolside while we did laundry. I can't comment on City Walk after dark, because we really only went there in the afternoon.

We have stayed at both the Hard Rock and the Royal Pacific. Our 13 and 11 year old girls LOVED the Hard Rock - the music, atmosphere and pool area were really well suited for teens. When we go back again we definitely will be staying there.

Our girls are a couple of years older now and I wouldn`t hesitate to let them spend a little bit of time at the parks by themselves since everything is so close and they know the rules we expect them to follow.
