Which nearby hotel/motel do you recommend for a family of 5 (3 kids).
Would love free breakfast! And want within walking distance!

The Howard Johnson has kids suites if you can get one. Comes with bunks and pull out sofa and separate room with King bed and another bathroom. 2 bathrooms and 2 TVs are key. Plus there's a door.........which is nice when the kids and adults need breaks from eachother. Rates are good too, and the hotel is in walking distance.

No breakfast....but next door are Mimi's and Mcdonalds.

(I should get paid by Hojo for that post) :)

We have stayed at RI Maingate in the past when our kids were young. Hot breakfast, free grocrey shopping, managers even specials, and more.

Another vote here for Hojo's - with the kids room able to accommodate 3 kids, and a great King room for the adults, (comfy pillow top bed) - clean suite, free inroom safe, Keurig coffee, fridge and microwave, flat screen TVs in EACH room, Mimi's prices are great so are McD's, great shop in the building to buy snacks, wine, beer, etc. You could also place a VONS order for free delivery of an order over $50 using code EASY7 I think it is... 8 minute walk to the entrance of Disneyland is fine for little ones. We went back daily for a swim, etc. Mimi's for supper, then off to the parks. Sign up at Denny's and Mimi's website for newsletters, etc. 2 weeks before you go, and get some great coupons. There is also a games room for the kids. Pirate's Cove is awesome too. Splash play area for the kids. Hot tub there, too. Garden pool if anyone wants to swim. Excellent choice. If you miss out on 'entertainment' (retro) rates, you can still get 15% off for being a DISboard member, OR f20% off if you are an annual passholder. The suites go very quickly, as they are all that, and then some. :goodvibes

Edited to add: 2 bathrooms in that suite - 2!!! :)

The Howard Johnson sounds great! But the kid suite isn't available for our dates....do you think the regular room would be OK?:confused3

Definitely, you might be able to get a cot in there (I think it's $15 a night extra?) and then there is room for all 5 of you. The room is 356 square feet with 2 beds I believe, compared to the 269 square feet per side (538 square feet total) for the kids suite, so you are getting 66% of the kids suite, plus, with no extra bathroom, it would be more spacious than 66% of the kids suite. There is still a fridge and microwave, in room safe, Keurig coffee, etc. Did you check to see if the Queen suite or King suite is still available? They have one of each, and those could also work, but they would be more pricey. Another option might be getting two rooms with adjoining doors, BUT they can not guarantee it, for example, if a customer checks out and leaves the room in poor condition that needs extra work, you may not be able to have adjoining rooms. That's what I love about the kids suite, but I do understand it's not available for your dates.

I just read about Caleb, in the wish trip report - what a wonderful and strong child he is!! :) I can tell how blessed you feel to have the family you have. It is a miracle, these people who come to us who are different, or who have special needs, but who fight so hard to manage life on a day to day basis and to be so happy. Blessings to you and your family.
