Best Hot Chocolate?

With all this discussion about the best cup of coffee, I was wondering about hot chocolate. Just as with coffees, there are huge differences in quality and the finer points in a cup.

Is there anywhere at WDW where they serve a quality cup of hot chocolate? We're not talking the stuff that finds one-half of the powered mix in a lump at the bottom, or the absolute mess they pump from the machines at a McDonalds. I'm wondering about the good stuff, such as Seattle's Best Coffee's wonderful hot chocolate or (to a lesser extent) what Starbucks serves. Wonderful stuff, packed with loads of whipped cream on top, some liquid chocolate drizzled on top of the whipped cream and perhaps some mint tossed in!

Fantastic! I'll give it a try next visit. :goodvibes

I'm guessing that there's zero options within the parks...?

When we were there last week I had to search high and low for hot chocolate at the MK and there was a kiosk in Frontierland that sold it along with the Bakery. Neither of these were any good, totally watered down and obviously instant stuff! Yuck! I wouldn't necessarily say there's zero options in the parks, but I didn't have very good luck ;)

That's pretty much what I remembered - nothing really good in the parks. It's sad - there's nothing like a good cup of hot chocolate.

Tell me about it! Especially at night sitting on the curb watching the castle change colors waiting for Spectro/Wishes to start! :goodvibes:

When we were there a couple of years ago I had the best cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream at Mama Melrose"s.

It was delicious

I just discovered that there's a Seattle's Best Coffee at the Orlando Airport. That will have to be a stop on the next visit, to have my favorite hot chocolate (ask for mint and extra whipped cream, and don't let them forget the chocolate stirring stick!) Still have to try the Ghiradellis... :goodvibes

OK I know that when I worked in MK on college program they had hot chocolate machines in Cosmic Ray's. I don't believe it was powder-based but I'm not positive and it was so long ago I don't know if they still have them. Or if I'm remembering correctly it may have been a cold weather/special event type of thing. But it's definitely something to look into.

Also just a guess but I was thinking I wonder if one of the pavilions in World Showcase might have some - like in Germany or something where chocolates are popular or Canada since it's a cold weather country. Again I've never tested this theory but I wouldn't be surprised to find some there. Now as to how yummy it would be is another case.

I do have to vote for Ghirardelli though theirs is really yummy.

Hope the suggestions help as some starting points on your next Disney expedition! I'll have to remember to check them out myself cause hot chocolate is the only warm drink I drink.

Actually, we had a fantastic cup of hot chocolate in the Animal Kingdom last week. Don't recall the name of the stand (something Tea Company perhaps?), but it was excellent! (And for $3.50 for a tall it better be good!):goodvibes

Has anyone had the Drinking Chocolate at Ghirardelli's? It's different from regular hot cocoa in that it is basically real chocolate melted into milk. I'm never had it, but it sounds amazing and I have it on my list for the next trip!
