We are going for family reunion in Jan. 2007.....five families of @3-4 are going. Which home away from home is best? We will mostly be doing Magic Kingdom.....

If you truly expect you'll be at MK for most of the trip, it is hard to beat the convenience of either the Villas at Wilderness Lodge or the Fort Wilderness Cabins. There is boat service to MK, and bus service to all other parks. There are also a lot of areas for kids to "run their bugs out" on trails.

I agree if they are spending the majority of their time at MK the cabins or VWL would be the best bet. Also with the Villas they could rent points for them from a member and cut down the cost of the room significantly even at 12.00 a point it is a big savings.

I agree that the villa's at Wilderness Lodge would be best for the MK but the Villas may not have enough availability. The best bet would be to go to the DVC web site http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/index and see for yourself. Technically, Old Key West is a Magic Kingdom resort, but you have to take a bus from it. My personal favorites are Boardwalk and the Beach Club Villa's, but I like the Epcot area better. I think that the villa options would be ideal for your groups. Have fun.

we stayed at Saratoga Springs last year and loved it, though it was a bit of a hike to MK. We did like the fact that SSR isn't very crowded, the buses were easy to come by, and we had a very short walk to downtown disney.

If you are getting 5 places to stay, you might find the cabins at Fort Wilderness have the most availibility. The others are DVC REsorts, and they hold a certain number back for members.

We stayed at the Beach Club Villas last year. It was wonderful except for the filthy dirty room we had. (Probably just bad luck). The location was great, (we walked to EPCOT), and they have the best pool area. They also have the biggest plus for us, (Beaches and Cream). :rotfl2: We also enjoyed taking the boat over to EPCOT and the Boardwalk. Debby

Thanks, everyone. We have stayed at Fort Wilderness before and loved it; there are some families that may want more of a "resort with fancy restaurant" feel. I'm thinking Wilderness Villas, since Wilderness Lodge would be close. This is still in the planning stages, so we'll see. Are the villas pretty booked in January? I thought it was a slow time of year.....

If you are renting dvc points - it will depend what is available. If you are meaning this January you will struggle to get VWL. I got SSR for December and I noticed CRO seem to have a lot of rooms available for there also, and you may get a good price thru them. Really, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the DVC resort.

sorry - i just realised u said jan 07. If you rent thru someone who owns at VWL, they can book there 11 months out. Check out the dvc rent trade board on this site
