best hand held fan

Do hand held fans really help keep you cool in 90 degree weather and high humidity? Which ones are best?

I was at the grocery store the other day. One of the cashiers had a fan that wrapped around her neck. There were 2 little fans, one on each side. Kind of like those reading lights. Hope I'm explaining this well because it was cool and I want one now. She said she got it on Amazon.

No, those hand held fans do not keep you cool and the ones that spray water just make you feel clammy/sticky. Someone in our party had one of those fans during our last Disney trip. We all tried it and found it useless and just one more thing to carry around at the parks.

They aren't AC, of course, but they do the trick when you're at a stop in a queue that has absolutely no air movement.

I bought one of the ones they sell in the parks for my niece on our last trip. made her carry it though, and she didn't want to bring it the next day.

The rechargeable battery lasts all day and in a pinch, you can use it to charge your phone. You can also plug it in and run it all night to circulate the air in your room.

Look for a necklace fan on Amazon. I bought a light green one which tilts and is amazingly powerful (we use it at home on our Bowflex max trainer). You can hold it and sit it down or wear it on a lanyard.

I also bought the wrap around fan (arctic air) which is extremely bulky, but also a good choice and is powerful, but it might be hard to be completely hands free (it feels like it will fall and feel sticky in hot weather).

For our stroller I have a fan with adjustable legs that can twist and attach and also Breeze Blast ultra (requires ice).

We always bring these with us. They're fine if you blow it directly in your face. It's not much, but it makes it fractionally cooler.
