I would prefer a Publix or something like that. We stopped last year at a store right outside Disney near the Taco Bell and it was so expensive just looking for a more reasonably priced store.

Thank you.

We are going to shop before we go and use wegoshop.com. For a reasonable fee they will shop for what you want and where you want them to shop (Walmart for us) so no surprises in the price department. We will have our groceries delivered to our resort.

You must have stopped at Goodings, and they are really high. We went to the Winn Dixie that is just under a mile from Goodings (north I think...you turn left off of Hotel Blvd. when leaving Disney Property). They had good prices and it was a nice store. You can sign up in one minute for their discount card and get the advertised specials, too. :flower:

There is a Publix on the way to ASMu since that's where your sig says you're going. Driving directions with grocery stops are available on Deb's site.

Our resort is apparently "across the street" from Goodings. Just how high are they? I'm willing to sacrifice a little cash for convenience, unless they're just completely outrageous... All we really need is breakfast food, snacks, sodas, etc. thanks.

Goodings is significantly more expensive than Publix or Albertsons. If you're only looking for some soda's and candy/snacks, then by all means go to Goodings...or any other convenience store like 7-11, as the prices are comprable. There is a Publix right behind the Orlando PRemium Outlets in Lake Buena Vista, easy to get to...also one in Hunter's Creek, which is a community between WDW and the airport (if you're going down Osceola Parkway or the Greenway). I would recommend Publix if you are seriously grocery shopping, or getting things like film, sunscreen, etc.

My folks live in FL and they always do their grocery shopping at Publix. It has reasonable prices, and is clean and nice.

Just got back from a 2 week trip to the World and we almost tried them all ~ Super Target, BJ's , Winn Dixie and Publix. We prefered Publix. Just be aware Winn Dixie has a discount card you can order online.

If you have a vehicle to get around town then you have many choices. Starting at Hotel Plaza Blvd, turn right on SR 535 pass under the I 4 overpass, keep going about a mile and a half you will see a street on the right called Polynesian Isles Blvd. turn left and Walmart Supercenter is right there. This is a brand new store and they have most everything you will need. However, it is still a Walmart :guilty: !!

If you like SuperTarget better (they have a FABULOUS bakery) stay on Polynesian Isles Blvd (it will curve a little you will be going about 1/2-3/4 of a mile.) At the signal you come to, this will be 192. Turn Left and go through a couple signals and SuperTarget will be on the left side about a half mile or so up 192. This is also a fairly new store and they have everything as well. The store is clean and the employees are friendly and the lines are not ridiculously long.

Now my personal favorite Publix is the one that is on Vineland Rd. near the Dixie Stampede. Starting at Hotel Plaza, turn right on SR 535 go under I 4 overpass and turn left on Vineland (there will be a Bahama Breeze and Golden Corral restaurant on the corner) you will pass the Outlet Malls on the right (great shopping for souvies and such here) look for the Dixie Stampede on the curve just past the mall and you will see Publix on your left.

If you would like any more help in finding good restaurants, or other shopping directions, feel free to ask! I will be happy to help!

ChristmasElf,

As you appear to live in the area and obviously are extremely knowledgeable, I was hoping to pick your brain. Any help/advise you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am taking my DW, DD, and DS for our first trip Jan 27-Feb 5. We are staying at the Boardwalk and will need to stock-up on Groceries. I have read many posts regarding Wegoshop as well as delivery from various other places, but would like to do the shopping myself as my DD has various food allergies and I need to be specific in what I buy.

From the research I have done thus far, would think that a Publix will be my best option. Primary purchase will be fresh fruits and veggies, eggs, milk, bread etc.. as well as snacks, bottled water and a few bottles of wine (looking forward to relaxing with my wife when the kids fall asleep).

Anyhow…. here is the kicker. We will not have a car as we are planning to take the Magical Express from the airport. Was wondering how feasible you think it would be to take a Cab to Publix and either have him wait while I shop, or actually be able to get another cab back to the boardwalk. I was told that a cab is fairly easy to catch outside the boardwalk, but not sure if there are companies I can call to make prior arrangements.

Thanks in advance for any help/advise you could provide. It is VERY appreciated.

Cant Wait for Jan 27th!!!!!!

I'd recommend buying your groceries at the Boardwalk general store. They do have the items you mention and it would be cheaper than paying for a taxi each way.

I know you are hesitant about your DD's food allergies and wanting to pick out the food yourself. However, did you look into Garden Grocer? You can shop the web site and specifically choose things from their list. It might be worth checking out. If you choose to do the cab route, I wouldn't have them wait. Just get a card from them and call when you are in line or close to finished. I think this would be cheaper than having them wait with the meter running.
