OK add me to the crazy people - grits with brown sugar, butter and maple syrup - YUM! And just to add - grits are a bit like Cream of Rice; but "grittier"
I will only eat grits with sugar in them. If they put in cheese or something else "weird" I will not eat them. I am the same way with cream of wheat though - only sugar.
I had the ones at Sports and I couldn't even finsh them. They were way too runny.
Cream of wheat is naturally sweet so sugar makes sense. Putting sugar on grits is the same thing as putting it on corn or eating corn chips with syrup. Generally, northerners will try to make their grits into cream of wheat by sweetening them, southerners know the correct way to eat grits!
