Best GPS

I have had Tom Tom GPS for my car. Three of them over the years. They have been ok. The latest one just quit on me. I seem to get them to last about 2-3 years each. Question for you what GPS do you have/recommend ? I don't buy the top of the line models. I don't have blue tooth not really even sure what that is but it has mentioned in owner's manuals that it has something to do with a smart phone or something. I only have a base model tracfone. I just need it to give me reasonably accurate directions and to be durable ie last for a few years before quitting. I spent the majority of today lost so I am in the market for a new one. FYI I can read a map I just didn't have one today and I find the GPS is great at prompting me to make the turns so I don't miss them TIA

My husband is on his second Garmin. The first one lasted about 5 years, so it was well worth the money he spent on it. I gave him a new one for his birthday last year that has the "lifetime maps" feature so that we won't have to pay extra to update the maps on it. I have used it a number of times and think it's easy to use and seems very accurate. He prefers the widescreen models (4.5" screen, I think?) and it's easy to see and use.

Garmin is superior to Tom Tom. Buy one with free lifetime updates. They are often on sale.

I'd go with Garmin. Get one with lifetime maps and lifetime traffic.

We have a Garmin with lifetime maps and I think we paid 99 dollars for it on sale a little over a year ago.

My android phone with google maps and navigator. Free on android and the maps are better than garmins. Garmin still hasn't updated some subdivision additions where my brother in law lives, so I have to put in a lat/lon coordinate to get close to his house. The subdivision was updated 10 yrs ago. Google maps has it. Once I got my android a couple of years ago, I gave my garmin to my wife for her car. I get frustrated every time i try to use it.

Friend of mine had a Tom Tom. When it quit he got one that was cheap, so he said. All he had to do was feed it during it's lifetime. He said he got it cheap as it was an older model.

My Tom Tom always would say that my neighbor's house was my house. It would have me come up the other end of the road (we live on a road shaped like a U) to get to their house rather than going the other end which was actually a bit closer to my house.

PP I don't have a smart phone just a cheapo tracfone so I lose out on all those cool aps...

I've had great success with Garmin over the past 5 years.

Budget Tip: Buy one with "Lifetime Maps" (as indicated by "LM" being in the model number) -- you can find sales from time to time putting these fully-functional devices well under the $99 price point.

And OP - never mind the apps you're missing-out on -- I have one of those fancy smartphones, and I would much rather use the Garmin for road trips.
