Best gift card for Disney and Universal?

Hi, going to Disney and universal this summer. As part of budgeting, I wanted to set some money aside for spending, and meals at Universal (on Disney dining plan). Am I better to get a Disney and universal gift card, or just get a visa or mastercard for the whole trip? The one thing that concerns me, is that if the visa or MC is lost, there is no protection, where I thought with Disney and Universal, if I have the card # I'm protected?? Any thoughts, greatly appreciated!

I buy gift cards for both at Kroger when they run 4x fuel points.

I'm pretty sure Disney gift cards are like any other. Treat them like cash. If someone spends it before you discover it missing, you are out of luck.

Not True! You just call the CC Company and report it lost and they will cover any fraudulent activity.

Not Completely! Someone could use up the entire value of the card before you discover it is missing. Then that money is gone.
But if you know the card# you can transfer the balance to another card if the balance hasn't already been drained. For Disney anyway.
