Wasn't really sure where to post this. How is best friends pet care with cats? What services do they provide? I've heard lots of feedback from dog-owners, but my "kids" have different needs!

Use an in home pet sitter like we do. They are bonded certified and professional. They water the plants. They get the mail. They check security then that cats do not freak out that they aren't in their home. Just a thought. Sorry I couldn't answer your question.

I had a similar question myself a few months back and wasn't able to get much info on it. I personally stopped off there after my last trip to see what it was all about and was thoroughly impressed by their set-up and the answers the CM was able to give me. I got a tour of the facilities and got to view them for a while. I wish I had more news, but I haven't set up my little girl to hang out there yet because of all her medical needs.

Basically, you can sign up for either 2 or 4 level kitty jail with a few single trips out of the glass (regulars and those who have proven themselves friendly get more time/group time). They come by 3 times a day or so to play with the kitties and pet them and love them and they can give out all medications barring anything with needles and can even keep to special diets.

I'm hoping to have more info after the next time I go, but I was impressed already enough to give it consideration.

I agree with this and have to ask the OP why the need to travel with cats? I know that sounds harsh but having cats for most of my life, cats just don't like traveling, especially inside cats. I had to take my one cat from Nebraska to Georgia for a move and he was so not happy for the first three hours as he was moving around in his carrier and making the most horrible sounds. He finally wore himself out after Kansas City but the rest of my time was making sure he was OK. Not a great trip. I think the mental anguish was harder on me than him.

That being aside, Best Friends will do a good job with your cat. My dad had a dog he was devoted to and the dog lasted my dad's life by at least three years. The only place my dad left Kaycee was at Best Friends at Disney World. My dad is gone but Kaycee is still alive with my stepmother.

Thanks for your post! The reason we travel with our cats is because my daughter has a severe anxiety disorder and her cat helps to calm her. I heard that at best friends, you can visit your pet everyday if you need to. I know what you mean though, cats don't generally like to travel :) Thanks for all of your help and comments!

You can, but there's no transportation there.

Are you driving?

That's so good to know for sure that you can. It will really help my DD after being in the crowds all day. We are driving! We live in GA, so it's not too long of a drive.

at WDW? They are great. It's a really good looking fun place too. The staff seems nice and caring.

My family spent Christmas at WDW three years ago when my oldest DD was in the College Program. She missed the family dog and cat so youngest DD and I drove from Louisiana with our 2 pet babies. If there was no one visiting in the cat room, they were okay with my daughter getting her out and sitting on the floor playing with her. On Christmas morning, we received an email from Best Friends with a picture of Mrs. Clause who came to visit the pet babies. We have the cutest picture of her holding our little dog (who died a couple weeks ago) that we treasure and believe it or not holding our cat who sometimes can be a little standoffish. The only problem we had with Best Friends is that it spoiled us and our pets for any other place that they have boarded since that time.

I would email or phone Best Friends and explain about your daughter's issues and I'm sure they will allow her to visit when she needs to.

Best Friends is a great organization throughout the country and has their own animal sanctuary in Utah where no animal, no matter what kind of animal, is put down. I actually helped feed a whacked out chipmunk there for a year (someone had run over the mom and the kids and the one survivor couldn't stand any noise).

We're [soon-to-be] locals and we don't think we'll have anyone lined up to watch our two cats for our first resort stay next year. I saw $26 a night for a 2-level condo, but it doesn't specify if that's per pet or per space with multiple pets.
