In case nobody has mentioned it (ha), definitely Chefs de France. The gruyere cheese they use is excellent.

I'm sure you could request mozzarella cheese but the soup was delicious as it was. It tasted like they used a piece of garlic bread as the crouton and the combination was soooo good!

Most restaurants top French onion soup with gruyere, which is a mild Swiss cheese. I've never heard of French onion soup covered with mozzarella. Is it yummy like that?

BTW, I love French onion soup, & I have to say that Chefs served the best that I've ever had! C'est magnifique!

Very yummy! In Pennsylvania most of the restaurants use mozzarella. It can get a little messy though, but so worth it. I have a tendency to order EXTRA cheese I'm not a huge fan of swiss cheese, but I wonder if I would notice it as much with the onion flavor

The Grand Floridain Cafe has an amazing french onion soup also. DH has declared the best he has every eaten and he orders it everywhere we go.

Thanks for sharing! I'm not a fan of most pungent Swiss cheeses, but I like the very mild flavor of melted gruyere. I do, however, love the salty flavor of a good melted mozz. Sounds very tasty!

GFC french onion soup is good, but CdF is MUCH better. He should try that!

I am NOT a fan of french onion soup, but my daughter ordered it at Chefs de France and didn't like it, so I gave her my appetizer and gave it a go. OMG! I want to go back just to order the soup. Amazingly good!
