Best "free" upgrade you ever got when checking into a WDW hotel?

Well, the free trip to Beach club concierge has to be the best...but it wasn't really an upgrade, it was a free stay because there was a problem w/ our reservation on a previous visit so they made the offer.

For an actual upgrade, the only time I've been upgraded was from a standard view at AKL to a pool view. I didn't ask for it, the CM just said, "you've been upgraded!"

In fact, I think that has been our only bona fide upgrade, so I'm going to guess upgrades are rare!

We were not upgraded on our cruise, either (I was kinda hoping, but wasn't disappointed when it didn't happen--it was magical either way!) :flower:

We got a great free upgrade at the YC from standard view to lagoon view. What a wonderful room.
We said we were worried about the work being done and would it be right out our window ( since it was our anniversary) She said not to worry about it since she was going to upgrade us .
She also called up to our room to see if we liked it!!!!!!

We received a free upgrade from the Contemporary wings to the towers with an Epcot view! Wow, were we shocked when they told us how to get to our room in the tower! :earseek:

We got a free upgrade from a standard view to a woods view at WL. :cool1:

Are you sure that was an EPCOT view? I have stayed in the tower TONS and all I see is the Magic Kingdom :flower1:

We had a reservation (rack rate pre DIS boards!!) for AKL standard view. We were given our room # and shown when our room was on the map. It didn't really register until we got to the room and looked out the window. We were upgraded to a deluxe savanah view...

Well, we thought we got a "free" upgrade this last week at the YC. When we checked in the CM told us, "Hey, you've got a great view of the holding pond." I was thinking to myself, "Wow, we got a free upgrade to a water view room. How cool is that!" (Even though I had no clue what a holding pond was!) We get to the room and we see grass, trees and some dumpsters or work area I'm not really sure.   Huh? What happened to that pond view we were told about? :magnify: We all got a good laugh out of it and didn't really care b/c we weren't in the room that much. We joked about how all the pond water dried up the rest of the trip. :rotfl: :rotfl: BTW, the CM was "earning his ears" so I think he was just trying to get us excited about staying there. It was a gorgeous resort!

We paid rack rate once (GASP!- pre-DIS boards) for a 2 bedroon villa at the Beach Club Villas in Oct, 2002. While checking in, we were told that they had oversold the villas and upgraded us to the Presidential Suite on the conceirge level! It was absolutley AMAZING and so FABULOUS!! It was a room that went for $1900/night (rack rate) during that time and we loved every minute of it! It will never happen again - we're now DVC owners, but it was so magical for our kids' first trip!

Wow! How lucky!

We were upgraded from a standard view at CSR to waterview. We were only paying the ap rate of $79 per night so I thought this was great!

In February of 2002, we reserved a king room @ POR. It was the first time we'd been to Disney in about 12 years and our first time on site. They oversold the king bedded rooms and we ended up in a one bedroom @ OKW - beautiful view of a pond/fountain and the golf course! :earseek: Disney's favor however, 'cause we're now DVC owners and go back 1-2 times a year...

We were upgraded at the Beach Club from a waterview room to concierge (no view) when we complained about the first room we were given. I had requested a room with two queen beds. This is the one thing that was really important to us - we were not interested in double beds. Anyway, we get to the room and guess what? double beds. Since we were celebrating my 50th birthday, my husband went to the desk and complained. They finally put us in a concierge level room with two queens. It was very nice, but I was a little disappointed that I was looking at the parking lot, when I thought I would have a waterview. However, concierge was great (however, I would not pay really big bucks for it).

In April, 2004, we were upgraded at the Yacht Club concierge from a garden view to the lagoon view. The room and the view were spectacular. :D

The Newport Suite!

In May of 2003 we were upgraded from the YC LV to the Newport Suite at the BC. We had some problems upon check in and the GM became involved and really went out of his way!

Needless to say, it was fantastic. I posted the report earlier. :D

I had rented points for a studio at BWV, but was upgraded to a one-bedroom a couple of years ago. That was awesome! Kind of spoils you and makes it tough for staying in a "regular" hotel room.

We just stayed at CBR in November and had a standard view room under the 7+2 package. When we got there they gave us a perferred location room, which is normally an extra $15/night. It was a nice upgrade because I would never pay extra just to be closer to the food court and pool :earboy2:

A few years ago, my sister and I stayed at the Boardwalk Inn, upon check-in, we were upgraded to a Honeymoon Cottage with CL privledges...

It was BEAUTIFUL and VERY romantic...too bad I was with my sister!!!

We were upgraded from a Contemporary standard view to a Water View our last trip in November. They checked us in at 10 am which was great...it was an awesome experience :cool1:

I'm sorry I'm so nosey, but I've got to ask. How badly did they mess up your previous reservation to offer you an entire free stay in concierge?? Wow

We had booked a convention room at GF for July '99. Upon arrival they apologized that those rooms weren't available yet, would we mind a dormer room if it had lagoon view? I had never had that happen so I said sure, that's okay. We were in Big Pine key, had turn down service, everything except concierge. Kids were really young, got a kick out of the kids sized robes they had. Really nice trip. I didn't know it was concidered an upgrade at the time.
