We are going to WDW at the end of January (24-29). I've never done one of the fireworks shows but we'd like to this time. Which is the best for boys ages 7 and 4? We'd prefer something on the earlier side and we are ok with less exciting - mainly want the fireworks experience.

Agree MK fireworks and I’m going in Jan as well and they seem to be on at 8pm every night so not too late -

The Star Wars one are okay too.

My little one (4) even though he hates bonfire night he loved MK and HS fireworks, I think the music and projections helped.

He’s not a big fan of illumination but i think it’s a bit on the loud side as well.

Even from our room in the dolphin he didnt like going near the balcony when they were on, lesson learnt about paying to upgrade lol

I'll agree with this, but also throw Illuminations in. It has some really awesome fireworks, and what I really like about it is that it's easy with kids. No need to show up 90 minutes early. You can show up 5 minutes early and be fine. Getting out is also easier.

Ok, I'll throw in Fantasmic.
1. It's usually early.
2. SEATING.
Your 4 and 7 year old have the chance to simply be looking at other ppl's shoulders for a good portion of hea and SW unless you grab a good spot. Good spots can definitely be found, and HEA is great, but just know that going in, shorter viewers can be at a major disadvantage in the wrong spot.

Fantasmic is in a seated outdoor theater.
On this board, and others, there have been complaints of ome kids finding it to be scary, but it's Disneyworld scary. There's a fire breathing dragon, a wicked witch, and Disney scary music during the Disney scary scenes.

If they love Disney characters, the kids will love recognizing the songs and projections in HEA. I think they would like that show better overall.

But ... staking out a spot for HEA is a pain. Echoing @Klayfish - Illuminations is an easier show to bring kids to and get a spot relatively last minute. And it’s a great fireworks show.

I would not do Fantasmic if you want it to be mostly fireworks-based. I wouldn’t classify Fantasmic as a fireworks show.
