I know this question has probably been asked and answered at least a dozen times, but if anyone could help me out and offer any advice/opinions on the best family beaches and what makes them family friendly, I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, to anyone who has sailed the Eastern in end of April, how is the weather, i.e. temperature (air and water), rain, etc.?

Thank you all!

I would like to know myself...no nude beaches for my grandsons, they'll learn soon enough ! I think Dawn Beach is nice, but would like to hear from someone who's been there.

We were on the 2/21 Eastern cruise and really liked Great Bay Beach in St. Maarten. It was convenient to the ship (just a water taxi away) and the beach was nice and sandy. We were able to rent chairs with an umbrella and pay to use a water trampoline which was a lot of fun! The main streets of Phillipsburg are right off the beach. My daughter and I managed to make a quick shopping trip right off the beach before we headed back to the ship for lunch.

My favorite on the island is Mullet Bay Beach, it sits on the edge of the golf course and defunct Mullet Bay Resort. April is a great time, its a quiet beach, has a bath house, nothing fancy, 2 bbq's set up that sell food and rent beach chairs and umbrellas. You would just take a taxi over and tell them what time you want to be picked up. I'm going down frm 4/17-4/30, and that's were I'll be most of the time!!! After the trip I should have alot of pictures posted somewhere, just got a new digital camera!

We went to Coki Beach on St. Thomas, and I thought it was great for kids. Shallow entry, very small waves, soft sand, extremely clear water. The fish come in to as shallow as about 3-4 feet (large schools of little silver ones and many medium sized ones), so it is quite reasonable simply to hold a young child in your arms to let him/her see the fish; slightly older ones can snorkel very safely and see lots! We went there privately, but the Coral World excursion includes Coki Beach, I think.

Thanks to everyone who has shared their experiences/opinions!
How was the water temperature at the beaches?

On our cruise last week, it was comfortable once you got used to it; warmest at Coki Beach, and just a tad cooler on St. Maarten and CC. However, others on that cruise who have been in March before said it was cooler than usual. It was plenty warm enough for my kids to want to be in it all day!

I'll second mobetsy with Colik Beach. DD and i went there on our January cruise, and it was perfect. We rented a chair, and played in the water-very comfortable. We also enjoyed Coral World
