Some of the most popular rides in Epcot seem more for big kids and teens.

My kids, 10, 8 and 8, like Soarin', Test Track, Living with the Land, Spaceship Earth, Ellen's Energy Adventure, Journey into Imagination, Nemo, and Gran Fiesta Tour. 2 of them like Mission: Space green.

If they meet the height restriction, which I think they would at 8 & 9, and are willing to ride I'd say give it a try. We just got back and our 5 yo son and 8 yo daughter rode Soarin' twice and would have happily ridden Test Track if it hadn't been shut down due to rain. They rode Space, Splash and BTMRR at MK and ToT at DHS (not tall enough for RnRC or they would have tried it too). Soarin is a pretty smooth ride (hanging swings in front of an IMax type screen), and the most intense parts of Test Track are like riding fast in a convertible. None of us really cares for spinning, so we didn't do Mission Space. I went on our last trip four years ago (green) with my friend and his daughter, who was 7 at the time, and she did fine. Be warned that it is very tight inside the ride vehicles, so if you're the least bit claustrophobic you won't enjoy it.

Depending on their interests they will enjoy the Nemo ride, Living with the Land, Journey Into Imagination, Ellen's Energy Adventure (movie/skit and slow ride with dinosaurs), Gran Fiesta Tour, and Maelstrom. For their ages I would also recommend trying the Agent P World Showcase Adventure -- a smart phone guided scavenger hunt of sorts that they can do in a number of world showcase countries. Each "mission" takes about 30 minutes and you can do as few or as many as you/they like and have time for.

All 3 of my kids (2 boys and 1 girl) have loved each of the big three (soarin, TT and MS) since they were tall enough to ride them. All of them love the spinning Mission Space.

My kids are 9 and 11 now, but we've been at 8 & 9 ages.

This is what they love at EPCOT:
Test Track
Soarin
Figment (mostly because it's a family tradition)
Spaceship Earth
Sum of all Thrills
Great Piggy Bank Advengure (again, mostly due to tradition)
Agent P adventure
Mexico boat ride
Maelstrom
Ellen's Universe of Energy

DD9 literally loved every single ride at Epcot, Ellen's Naptime Adventure included, lol. She would ride Soarin, SSE, SoAT and TT over & over if she could, but has almost equal love for Figment, Nemo, Crush, Maelstrom and the Grand Fiesta tour.

She loves picking new treats on every trip too, kaki gori (? spelling?) in Japan, caramels in Germany, that American dream slushie/ice cream delight found only in America at the WS. The only thing she doesn't care for, believe it or not, is Illuminations. She finds it long & intense compared to Wishes, especially late at night after a full day.

We also can't miss Club Cool and hit it at least twice each trip. We love searching for unique souvenirs in Japan for some reason.... Pick a Pearl, Happy Cat figurines, etc.

Epcot rocks.

My kids who are 9 and 10 love Spaceship Earth, Mission Space Green, Soarin, Finding Nemo, Innovations, Maelstorm in Norway, the boat ride in Mexico, the boat tour in the land pavilion

My 8yo DD (oldest of our 4) loves everything there but especially Spaceship Earth, Figment & Club Cool.

My kids went on Soarin and TT when they were 4. My older one was 7 and went on M:S orange. If they are tall enough and want to try I say go for it.

They also likes Living with the Land, SSE, Seas, Figment, Maelstrom and the Mexico ride.

At age 8 and 9 all of the Epcot rides are great! My son especially loved Sum of all Thrills.

By that age my oldest had ridden almost every single ride at all four of the parks and was fine on all of them. The one exception that you mentioned was Mission Space. That is such a GREAT age because they are old enough for just about everything "big" but not too old for the fun "little" stuff too!! They will like living with the land now, in a couple years, it will be BORING to them, at least for a few years! My 6 year old LOVES that ride for some reason!!

As others posted

1. Not at all

2. Every single one :thumbsup2

I was 10 the first time I went to WDW, and I rode Soarin, Test Track, and the Seas with Nemo. I loved all of them! They are all pretty mild rides, including Test Track, although it is very fast. On later trips, I rode Living with the Land, and found it to be mild too. Other rides I would recommend would be the Maelstrom in Norway and the Gran Fiesta Tour in Mexico. Also, Spaceship Earth in the big 'golf ball' is a must. In my opinion, every ride at Epcot would be fine for young kids, except Mission Space. I am too chicken to ride it myself, but I have heard that it is very rough and claustrophobic. I hope this helps, and have a great trip!! :thumbsup2

OP...what rides are you talking about for older kids/teenagers...I honestly can't think of one.

My oldest probably rode Test Track at 4 and loved it. He did Sum of All Thrills this past trip, at 7 and LOVED it. He calls up his ride, from his card, as often as we allow him.

Everything in Epcot is suitable for that age group :)

My 6, 7 and 8 year olds loved living with the land, mission space and soarin. TT was down on our last trip, but the old TT was great from age 5 up!

I have an app called WDW Waits......in the description of some rides the app mentions the ride is for "big kids, teens and adults," hence my original question.

Thanks for the great advice.

I think the app you're talking about is one of a suite of apps that are collectively known as the Magic Guide. The descriptions that list "big kids..." are all in rides with height restrictions ( see the top of the same page right under the picture of the ride). If a child meets the height requirement they are considered a "big kid," so just go by that and your child's interests and you should be fine.

Just as others said...your 8 and 9 year old will be ale to try and probably love every ride at Epcot. My 4 year old was tall enough for everything and loved them all. He didn't ride mission space because we ran out of time (or maybe he didn't meet the height requirement just for that one???? I can't remember). He I 6 now and all he cares about when we go in August is Epcot. He is dying to try the new test track. Have fun!

Our first trip to Disney, the kids were 5 and 7. Epcot was their favorite park.

Future World:
They loved Soarin and Test Track and Spaceship Earth and Innoventions at that age. We never got to Living Seas on that trip, but they really enjoyed it at 10 and 13 (and I would say it's designed for the younger set).

They tried Mission Space - Orange at 10 & 13 and LOVED it. I would have opted for the green version with younger kids since it's less intense. (This is the only REAL intense attraction at Epcot. The rest are tame by comparison.)

Club Cool is a lot of fun. Make sure someone tries the Beverly. (Insert evil chuckle here...)

There are interactive play areas in the Imagination and Mission Space buildings. My kids enjoyed these also.

World Showcase:
At 5 and 7, my kids did the Kidcot stops.

At 10 and 13, they did passports (we found on the Dis-igns board) and had a great time at each stop. The CMs would translate their name for them and write a short message. They also did a Kim Possible mission (now Agent P) and that was great for the age bracket your kids are in.

The street entertainment is nice because you don't have to wait in lines. :thumbsup2 There are comedy shows, drum shows, music, and acrobats, which appeal to both young kids and adults.

Have a Great Trip!
