My mom will be with us for part of our DLR visit and wants a scooter instead of a wheelchair so she doesn't "inconvenience" us by having to push her at times.

I know I've read a thread here about where DISers rent them offsite, but can't find it. :confused3

She has rented before from the place at Ramada Maingate. But I think someone gave some better options that aren't as close to the parks, but they do deliver.

Any suggestions are appreciated. :flower3:

I used Deckert Surgical Co 2025 N Main St Santa Ana, CA 92706 (714) 542-5607
You can call and reserve. They deliver and pickup to your hotel lobby.
For my upcoming trip I called several places for prices since we need 3 and deckerts was the cheapest and since I know they have great service I went with them again.

Do you mind me asking what they run?

We were actually going to purchase a manual wheelchair before we leave home (driving from AZ), but electric would be SO nice.

we rented from oc medical, thye delivered right to our hotel and the guy was amazing and very helpful.... it cost my mom jut undr 250 for 9 days and they also have travel size scooters they can trade if you are going to any diffrent area attractions

I think we paid $80 for 2 days of ECV from Deckert's last Sept. Worth every penny, as I saw a poor lady pushing her adult daughter in a manual wheelchair up the steep hill at DCA (near GRR) and she looked exhausted. That is not a way for either party to enjoy a trip to DLR!

I have used Deckert for many of our family members that we have brought. I've used other companies, and have had no problems with Deckert. We found their scooters to be very well taken care of. Enjoy your visit!

I always use OC Medical (the same people who own Scooter Village). I've always had good service and they deliver to the hotels. I have other friends who swear by Deckert. It just depends on what your personal experience is. Either of them are good and they are less expensive than renting from Disney, plus they can be used in DTD and to and from the hotels.

you just pop out of nowhere:lmao:

Im going to give another vote to Deckerts....I have used them for years....i have lost alot of weight and my health is much better than it has been in years past and im going to the halloween party in a couple weeks and for the first time in I cant remember how long...(over 13 years i think???) Im actually walking it and not using a ecv cart...very nervous but hopeful..that was an added expense that I hated...but Deckerts has always been great for me and went out of their way to make it a good experience:goodvibes

<hugs>

And I swear by Deckert's. Great customer service (had an issue with an ECV, they resolved it in 2 hours on Christmas Eve. And they are competitive rate-wise. For a 2.5 day visit (they deliver it Friday morning, pick up Sun at 2pm so I can shop Sun am) is usually about $75. I have an upcoming visit for 12 days, and my rate is $225.

I called them and was told its a $45 per day rate, how did you get one so much lower?

Someone else told me the cheaper rate too. what's the secret password. lol

They seem to give discounts for more days, and/or "count" days weirdly. If you tell them the total number of days you want (and maybe what they are) they can give you a more accurate quote, I think.

We got a very fast and attractive scooter with Deckert's. Great service and I think only once did the scooter battery lights display less than a full charge, the battery was so good.

Tell them how many days you need it for.

They do give repeat customers a slight discount.

Thanks! I'll call them again tomorrow.

Are they like car rentals? If its rented at noon on a monday, for a week, do they come get it at noon the next monday?

btw we will be there on the 9th. maybe we'll see ya! :wave2:

My mom got one from Deckert's. It was at the hotel when we arrived. The battery lasts all day and I never saw one of the lights go out. The hotel allowed us to charge it in the lobby each night.
