We have grandchildren coming to visit, 2 and 4. Which resort do you recommend for that age group? I was thinking the one near AK but all I know about it is you can see animals, not if it has a great pool or amenities kids would love. Oddly enough you would think that a question like this would be easy to Google or search onsite but I haven't found an answer yet. TIA

Animal Kingdom would be great for kids. Mine love it. The new Kidani village has a wonderful kids water play area. Jambo house (the "old" building) is very family friendly as well. It is one of the most beautiful hotels that I have ever seen anywhere with a serious WOW factor when you first walk in. The animals outside are a wonderful bonus to a great "home."

We love BCV... the pool is like a water park. Great character breakfast at Cape May, beaches and Cream is always a hit with kids! Boardwalk is across the Lake... lots of fun there. You can walk to Epcot or take a Water Taxi to DHS or Epcot. Nightly movies on the beach with Campfire sing-a-long and S'Mores!

I'm gonna have to go with BLT. The pool has an enormous zero entry area. My 3 yr old could walk out 30 ft and still be touching. You can walk home or take the monorail after a long day at MK. Sure beats the busses. BCV is great, but I loved being so close to MK.

We starting taking my DD to Disney when she was 3. Honestly, she has been happy wherever there is a pool, from the Poly or the Pop. I think that the animals at AKV would be very entertaining to your grandkids, but, if you're going to be doing the parks every day, you might want to think about a park that is within walking distance to the parks so you don't have to do the bus every day. I guess my point is that I don't think that you can go wrong with any of the resorts. Pick one that best fits your vacationing style this trip, and I'm sure the kiddos will be thrilled. :goodvibes

The animals at AKV make room time much, much more fun as a SV room becomes it's own attraction.
AKV Jambo has afternoon cultural ambassadors in the lobby that may interest the kids. (DS experienced one that was doing crayon relief rubbings on the animal floor medalions) Jambo pool has a decent zero enry area, and it sounds like the kidani water activity area should be decent..
I can also understand BLT, the castle may mean a lot at that age, and what can be more cool than catching a monorail driving into the hotel lobby..
I've heard that the spread out BCV pool(s) can be a nightmare trying to keep track of youngsters. I will agree with Crystal that anywhere has been a great experience with youngsters at Disney!

Here's the advice I gave before becoming a DVC member.

If you will be going to the parks, go with the resort closest to the park (or parks) you expect to spend most of your time at. The closer you are to that park, the better because it means less travel time.

Also, it's nice to chose a resort where there is a nice view. While the children nap, the parent(s) can sit on the balcony and enjoy.

I have to agree that AKV is great for kids. My DS loves to view the animals. I have pictures of a 1 and 2 bedroom villa in my TR (Plans are made to be broken). I will have some pictures of the quiet pool at BCV in my other TR and will have pictures of the Kidani pool and one bedroom. But, like Crystal said usually any resort with a pool is good if your GKs love the water. DS loved the quiet pool at BCV.
