Best DVC Resort For Non-Parents

First off, thank you everyone for responding!

If you definitely want a longer end date....I'd suggest going with VGF or even CCV over Poly or BLT. Those are more quaint mature feel. If we add on again, it will be one of the Wilderness Lodge resorts. So quiet and relaxing. And would love to stay there during Xmas decoration time.

After some thought, I'm strongly considering a direct purchase at Copper Creek. I've always loved WL for its seclusion, Christmas decor and the new pool area looks pretty dope.

I'm now thinking that having a smaller CCV deed (75-100 points) would give me membership benefits, first dibs on Christmas bookings, expedited booking for the 2018 holiday season, full allotment of 2017 points without the fees AND allow me a future resale purchase of 100-125 points at BWV, BCV or PBW - whichever listing calls my name first.

Perhaps wait a year for the Riviera to open?

I have considered Riviera, but with so many unknowns (the look and feel of the resort, operational success of the sky-liner, potentially high pricing) and a desire for us to get into the DVC experience sooner rather than later, I think I'll be focusing on resorts I'm totally familiar with.

Thanks again, everyone. Feel free to pick apart the above logic. I need it right now. I'm a pretty indecisive person, so hearing other opinions really helps.

DH and I are not and will never be parents. Our home resort is SSR. We have stayed at every resort. I don't find any of the resorts to be "more adult" or "more child" friendly than any of the others. What we've discovered is it really comes down to time of year for us. We avoid the usual school breaks and summers. We also tend to spend our time at the "quiet" pool rather than the feature pool.

That's a good plan. Xmas time at the Lodge is so nice. We love Artist Point. There is a nice little bar outside Artist Point which we also enjoy. And now they have that new bar next to the water...what's it called? Geyser Point? They have the new quiet pool and the main pool is really nice. Can boat over to MK or the other MK resorts. Can also get the Reunion Station club lounge add on (we are trying it in Oct). I would love CCV points.

.........
If you go this way, better make your 2018 Holiday reservation part of the sale (or buy a fixed week). CCV studios & 1 Bedrooms are all booked up for the 2018 holiday season except for a stray night or two.

There are too many variables. Do you want best value, longest contract or does location matter most?
For us, location was most important with both contracts and we are very happy with our choices.
You really need to decide when you will be traveling most of the time as that will make a huge difference.
If you want one of the new resorts, direct purchase makes sense, otherwise, I would look at resale. You may miss some of the perks, but save thousands over the life of the contract.

Might want to look into a fixed week contract at CCV for a studio during the holiday times.

If I were you I would rent points for your next trip and wait and see how Riviera is. It will have direct transportation to the gates of both Epcot and HS which is game changing IMO- even better than the monorail because they'll be leaving every 20 seconds instead of every 5 minutes. It's supposed to open next Sept/Oct. DVC is a 50-year commitment, waiting one more trip to buy won't make a difference.

If you do end up buying at CCV and want to go during the Christmas season in a studio, I would absolutely buy a fixed week as Matty suggested. There are not many studios at CCV to start with and in that most popular month of the year it's going to be very hard to book even for owners.

Do you know if the gondolas are getting completed first, or is Riviera going to be up for sale?

The gondolas are supposed to be up and running 12 months from now and start carrying passengers a couple months after that. I don't know how the start of sales/ opening of Riviera ties into that, but I would imagine they'd want to capitalize on the excitement of the gondolas starting.

We saw some of the towers up in April around Epcot, but the station at the International Entrance was still behind temporary walls.

BWV unless the contract length bothers you too much. Then I would go Poly bc of quick access to epcot...

Another vote for BWV there's just the two of us & we love being able to walk to two parks. There is plenty of nice places to eat nearby and the quite pool is great.

I do caution choosing Poly for access to Epcot for the F&W. Yes you have the monorail, but you are at the front of the park. It is a bit closer than the bus stops, but you still have to walk through the park to world showcase. The walk from BWV or BCV to world showcase is a huge advantage if you will be doing it many times during your stays.
