So we're considering a WDW trip next year - the week between Christmas and Easter. We know if we forge ahead we'll need a plan - one that may include NOT being in a park on NYE. I was wondering if any of the DVC resorts do anything for NYE. I saw in Disney Files that AKV was doing some sort of "early" celebration - like at 5 pm when Africa hits midnight?

Just wondering what there might be to do if we wanted to hit the parks early and then get out of there by midday. Normally we spend afternoons and evenings in the pool, but from what I can tell we can't depend on the weather cooperating for that.

Thoughts, anyone?

We are at OKW right now. The resort did have scheduled activities last night. Music was still playing at the main area when we returned around 12:30. We spent the evening at DHS and had a great time. It was crowded, of course, but not terrible. We've dealt with similar crowds other times of the year at MK and EP when we stayed for fireworks. I would guess that if AKV has early activities, it is because of animals.

We went to DHS yesterday morning for the 8am opening, We arrived at the turnstiles at 7:40 and they had just started letting people enter the park. It was less crowded than normal for the first couple of hours. We left at lunchtime for a break at the resort, and returned to DHS at 5:30. The weather forecast this week is fantastic, but you're right, it can't be counted on and you are bound to have some chilly days. Our experience this time of year is that some days are warm enough for shorts and swimming, but some days are not.
