Hi! DH and I have eaten at The Boathouse and I would love to eat there again. I thought I'd check though and see what the favorite restaurants are for families in Disney Springs these days. Note we have a child with a peanut allergy, so that can affect our decision making if cross contamination is a risk. Thank you!

Does the amazin cookie place have cross contamination signs? Wondering if that's an option for us.

The difficulty with DS as you may be aware is that many restaurants there are not Disney owned and don't have the same allergy protocols as the Disney ones.

Unfortunately, Erin McKenna's practically-everything-else-free bakery in DS is not nut free.

After a disappointing experience at the upscale Wolfgang Puck restaurant there that's since closed, we don't eat at many DS places. Our server then said we'd have to decide based on what was listed in the menu descriptions. It was basically "We don't do allergies." That's why we're wary of DS eateries.

Jaleo is my favorite at Disney Springs, and when I was there last time I was there they were very accommodating to someone with a gluten free menu. Wouldn't surprise me if they are accommodating on peanuts, which aren't exactly a common Spanish ingredient.

I have a tree nut allergy but don't have kids so I can't speak to the more family-oriented places except for Homecomin, but I did have a great experience there. PP's experience notwithstanding I haven't noticed third party restaurants at DS being worse as an allergy sufferer, all of them have been fantastic. My only bad allergy dining experience on property was actually at Tiffins tbh.

I’d be very careful about restaurants in DS and cross-contamination (as I’m sure you are). As an example, I have. Severe shellfish allergy and (interestingly have been vegetarian my entire life and only found out I had this allergy by eating with. Family member who always order shellfish from a Chinese place that DID cross-contaminate) ate at City Works. They refused to make any French fries for my burger because they fry their shrimp in the same oil. I only found out when they asked if I had an allergy and told them what it was. My dining options became quite limited when just bout everything I could eat wa fried in something that touched shellfish. Nowhere did it specify those menu items or we’d never have booed this place. Now we stay pretty much at Disney-owned restaurants.

Thanks for the helpful feedback everyone.

That's disappointing. I realize it can be difficult to accommodate the many different allergies. I do appreciate transparency if you are serving specific foods where it can't be avoided though. Just tell us so we can choose to eat somewhere else.

You'd be surprised where peanuts turn up! They are in Mole sauces, marinades, lots of desserts. We always have to ask even if it's something simple, like chicken.

Sorry to hear that. Thankfully we have only ever had one accidental exposure/ingestion and it was not at a restaurant, it was at a party. There happened to be 3 nurse friends there to help us.
