Hello Everyone!
I started to post this on the resort board, but I thought you guys might know better.
I'm in the process of planning a Thanksgiving 2009 trip, and by that point I'll be in marathon training mode (actually probably early taper but 3-4 weeks out from my first marathon). I prefer to run outside, but a treadmill wouldn't really be too much of a problem.
There will be 3-4 adults on this trip. And we don't due Value (POP was a bad experience for us and it wasn't there fault but there are some bad memories associated with it for our family), but either moderate or deluxe is fine.
With all that in consideration, which resort would you guys reccomend?

Thanks!
Jennifer

I think a stay at the Epcot resorts (Yacht and Beach, Boardwalk or Swan/Dolphin) is the best option for runners. You can run around the lake and to Hollywood Studios and back. :thumbsup2

Hi Jen,

Also agree with the YC/BC/BW area. If you need to get in more mileage there is easy acess to the sidewalk along Lake Buena Vista Drive.

At the moderate level, Port Orleans. Nice run along the Sassagoula River between Riverside & French Quarter.

If you stay at the Wilderness Lodge, you have access to a long loop of trails from the WL through Fort Wilderness. Tom & I walked from WL over to Fort Wilderness on Monday, and I think that would be a really great place to do a nice long run. Somewhere there is a link to a trail map - I'll see if I can find it.

They also have a pretty good health club there, on the Villas side. Plus it's supposed to be really, really beautiful there at the holidays.

ETA: I found a link. Hopefully this works: http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/fwrecmap.html

Saratoga Springs is also a great place to stay--- you can run a nice loop through the resort around the lake and through Downtown Disney. If you stay I'd recommend renting points as it is much cheaper than paying outright for the rooms. They also have a gym with TMs if you needed.

We'll be there the week after Thanksgiving 11/28-12/5. We always stay at the BW. One loop around the water and down to the Swan is 1 mile. it is.78 of a mile to the Studios. We usually do 1 loop around the water, back and forth to the Christmas Tree at the Studios and then more loops around the water. This is a GREAT area to walk/run/jog.

There is also another walkway that is longer around S/D, YC/BC, which I have not done. I tend to stay near the resorts so I can hop into a bathroom when needed:rolleyes1
