My family has only been to Universal one time, but my 8 year old son is dying to go back! So I thought I would plan a trip for this summer and stay on property. My question is, what gives the best discounts for Universal hotels? AAA, government employee, Fan Card (do they still do that one??) or Entertainment Book? Any advice appreciated!!

loews hotels do honor most of what you listed.

the loews hotels at UO do not honor all of them.

probably your best deals would be with the AAA card.

the APH is also a great rate.

i have both and always book with the aaa for that discount. it beats my ap one.

it all depends on the date and season you will stay on site. it varies by dates.
the time i go is regular season

go to the UO website and then go to the onsite hotels.
play around with the numbers and hotels and see what is the best deal for you for the time period you plan to book.

I called to ask if they give a government employee rate twice-just to make sure-and both times they said no. I got a better rate calling lowes directly for my AAA versus the supersaver or APH-we are going at Christmas time so I'm sure that played into what kind of discounts they offered.

I just save about $210 on my upcoming RPR 4-night stay by switching from the Super Saver rate (which wasn't bad) to the Annual Pass Extra Value Weeks rate!

Sorry to hijack your thread but this might help you too. I just booked RPH for Dec 17-20 - I used Super Saver. It was $689 total. Do you think AAA (CAA) would be better because I have that too. Do you have to call to get that rate?

you would need to call for the AAA rate.
if you call and that rate is cheaper, modify your ressie over the phone.

i have found that super saver rates are usually the best rates.

Disregard this question. I just called and changed to a AAA discount. It saved another $37.00 :cool1:

What kind of deals do travel agents get at Universal?

I am going Christmas week for one day and I got a much better rate by calling and doing it on my own. AAA was high but higher then that was the entertainment book. :scared1:

I get an error message..Disney discounts 50% how about Universal and do they have a portal where you can enter an IATA card? TIA
They do have a portal...I believe the TA rate is 50% off rack rates. You must have a valid Iata card at check in or you will be charged the full amount of the room at check in. They are very strict with the rate..have a nice trip ;)
