We are flying into SFB on a Thursady at 4:00PM. We are getting a rental car and I have a Sun Pass transponder. How would be the best way to go at that time a day.
417 all the way or is there a better way?
Thanks

If it were me, I would avoid I-4 at all costs, since you are hitting the road during peak rush hour. Although there are toll lanes to help you get through downtown Orlando, the toll lanes stop short of Disney property, and the stretch between where the express lanes stop and I-4 narrows as it passes Disney can cause major traffic jams on a daily basis.

Taking the 417 is a decent alternative although it may still be busy, since it drops you off right at the border of Disney’s property. Once you’re on it, you can’t get lost. Another alternative is the 429 (the Western Beltway). You would exit at the Western Way exit near Flamingo Crossing and enter Disney property near the backside of AK. Here are maps showing the two methods, with the 417 first, and the 429 second. Both are toll roads.

I second the suggestion to avoid I-4 at all costs. 417 is a nice drive. They're doing a lot of construction on it right now so it's reduces lanes so traffic can build up, but it's still better than I-4 (don't know about 429).

There are no lane closures on SR-417 during the day, which is when you'd be driving. It is, however, a mess and people who aren't familiar with the construction slow things down. I might take SR-429 just to avoid SR-417. If you have a GPS, it won't be difficult.
