Best Digital Camera for taking pics of the fireworks ...

Regarding stabilizing the camera, buy yourself a pocket tripod. They are about $10 and worth every penny. I literally carry it in my pocket - they are that small. You simply can't hold the camera steady enough in your hands and there isn't always a convenient place to set the camera down.

Great tip. After all the trips and pictures, I've started to take evening digitals with no flash just to be different and to catch another dimension of WDW. I've at times had a hard time of finding a solid place to prop my camera so the tripod would come in handy.

We have a Canon A520 and we used fireworks mode-no tripod. Just real steady hand.

I have the Kodak Easy Share 6.1 mega pixel and it has a setting for fireworks. Tested it out 4th of july in our back yard and worked great.

I have a 1GB, 1- 256MB and 3- 128MP memory cards. If needed I will go and have my pictures put on a disc so I can take more pictures. I also have packed my cord to plug in the tv (if they are available) so I can sit at night and go through and get rid of the bad pictures.

Here's a photo I took last week from IllumiNations. No tripod/monopod, just handheld. I have a Canon Digital Rebel.

It's a Digital Rebel. It's about 50% more bulky than the film version, which my husband has (a Canon Rebel T2, I think). I dont mind the extra weight that much-- the convenience of digital is fabulous!

I dont have an IS lens on it, just a fairly "cheap", generic 28-200mm lens (not a high quality brand name one). I didn't set it to manual, which I should've; instead I used to "Sports Mode" to get multiple exposures by holding down the button so I got series of firework bursts. 30% weren't spectacular (didn't time it when the 'burst' occurred), 30% were blurry, 40% was "keep-able" by my standards.

jsut subscribing. so my husband can look later. where looking for a new digital camera.

We have a Fuji digital and it has a special setting for taking pics at night of fireworks - we used it last winter to take pictures of Christmas lights and they turned out GREAT!

Impressive! Do you have the EXIF info for that particular picture? I"m curious to know what ISO the camera uses, shutter speed, and aperture setting.

Cheers,
Kelly

I'm very nervous about this purchase. I have never used a digital but have been wanting one. I have been on line most of the day today searching for one. I finally decided on a Casio Exilim EX-Z57 5 MP. It has a 2.7" LCD which I really liked being it was so big. It is a slimline camera. It had so many great reviews. I purchased it on line at Circuit City for 269.99. I am hoping it is a good purchase.. :confused3

Photography is the art of creatively capturing light. I've had a lot of chances to take pictures at WDW, come up with a lot of good shots, a lot of mediocre shots, and a lot of completely horrible shots.

One of my favorites from Illuminations (apologies in advance for the horizontal scroll) (Exposure: 4/10 sec, F/5.6, ISO800, 55mm focus):

And one from HalloWishes (Exposure: 1/30 sec, F/4, ISO1600, 28mm focus):

hi
have a fuji fine pix f10 which has a continous shooting mode, i put it onto that, turned the flash of and it took 40 photos 30 of which were useable. it really is a matter of trial and error. i practised on moving cars in a supermarket car park with all the different modes until i found a setting i liked. also photoing srteet lights at night as well as cars gives you some idea of whats available!

I use a Canon Powershot A95 and was recently at WDW. GOt some great night shots of the castle and fireworks as well as SpectroMagic. Since I use a power wheelchair I use the arm rest to stabilize my arms and not a tripod. It works well. I know that the interpreters appreciated my not using flash and not flahing them in the face all the time. I also use a Pentax SLR camera but it is really heavy and a pain to carry.
