So many questions. We just got off the Wish on B2B- had a larger family verandah stateroom the first sailing and a smaller verandah on second sailing. Bathrooms seemed the same size. This was our 5th/6th sailing after a 10 year hiatus. Pleased to say all 7 loved it and for 4 of us it was a return to sailing after a major medical emergency on our last sailing (different cruise line) that left us all with a good bit of trauma- this cruise helped repair some bad memories.

But I'm not sure I can suffer these tiny bathrooms- clunked my head 2-3x- stubbed foot on step up into the bathrooms- I'm just over 5'8"- but most our family are over 6' and interestingly, one is 6'5" and on the larger stateroom he clunked his head (6th floor- midship) but on the smaller stateroom on deck 9- his head cleared the ceiling drop down.

I've only ever seen a Concierge room on the Fantasy- friends showed us around. Are they more spacious and bathrooms are level with floor?

The placeholder offer said only available for categories 4-11- so assumed that excluded Concierge.

Do they ever offer specials? Is it best to book once sailings are announced? If our children book a verandah- is it easy for them to hang out with us? Next cruise- we'll have a 3 year old and 9 month old- hoping we can have a cabin with extra space to help sit the littles while mom and dad enjoy trivia or other events.

Thanks for any tips! We are wanting to book Southern Caribbean or Alaska in fall 2026.

The concierge bathrooms are going to be the same size in the concierge veranda rooms - you would need to upgrade to a one bedroom and honestly going to the fitness center to shower instead might be a better alternative.

Concierge is cheapest to book when bookings first open and you cannot apply a placeholder for a 10% discount. The other opportunity to get concierge for cheaper is to hope for an upgrade availability at port but you are missing out on some of the other big concierge perks like prebooking cabanas

You are correct that the onboard-booking discount does not apply to concierge staterooms. Most other discounts do not apply to Concierge rooms either. As dreamer17555 said, your best bet for the lowest fare is booking as soon as bookings for a cruise open, before rooms fill up. However, be aware that Concierge deposits are non-refundable, even if you move them to a lower stateroom class.

I have never been in a Concierge Veranda Stateroom, but since some of those on the older ships were converted from Deluxe Family Oceanview (Category 4) to have nicer furnishing (and Concierge host and lounge access) I do not think their bathrooms are significantly larger than Category 4.

One-bedroom staterooms do have much larger bathrooms in the main bedroom, but are also much more expensive.

Adults showering in the fitness center would address the “fitting in the bathroom” issue at no additional cost.

If you are sailing with people who are not Concierge, they are welcome to join you in your stateroom, but are not allowed in the Concierge lounge.

That’s correct. The bathrooms are the same. The larger family stateroom has the extra space in the “living room” area — the difference is basically the size of a twin bed.

Concierge verandah staterooms will be the same. Upgrading to a 1-bedroom concierge would be more space though I’m not sure about the bathroom. As PP mentioned, many guests opt to use the fitness area showers.

Thank you! Since all of our kids are grown now- we appreciate having to pay fares for just the two of us. The port upgrade would be doable for Alaska- we tried 4x a day to snag a cabana for the last two cruises- adult cabanas opened up- but no family ones. I wonder how likely it is for any Alaskan concierge to be available to upgrade at port- we are trying to sail early fall. Some of those cruises are already open to book.
Does anyone know if we can book concierge with award points on Capitol One or Sapphire/AmEx? We have saved a lot of award points and thought we could pay 1/2 with points and 1/2 with card. Just haven't looked it up
Thanks!!!!

The only sure way to save some money on a concierge room is to book it via Costco Travel. You'll get about 10% cashback. And book the room as soon as itinerary is released. It will be the cheapest it's going to be.

A riskier strategy if you want a 1-bedroom is to book a regular concierge then upgrade at port.

I would guess handicapped cabins would have tall showers? Not sure if you could ask for one at the Port if no one else needed it.

The ceilings are no higher in accessible staterooms. They may be showers that would allow roll-in showering...but that essentially turns the entire bathroom into a water closet

The on board booking offer/placeholder can be used to book a future concierge stateroom. Rather than 10% discount, the booking receives a stateroom credit based on length of sailing. You can also still use the reduced deposit benefit for longer cruises.

https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/special-offers/onboard-offer/

If the Placeholder Reservation is converted to a new eligible booking in Concierge categories 01A through 03B, a non-refundable and non-transferrable onboard credit per stateroom based on length of sailing will be issued instead: cruises of 6 nights or less will receive a $100 USD credit; cruises of 7 nights and longer will receive a $200 USD credit.

I would suggest looking at this year’s Alaska dates for the week/weeks you are considering for Alaska, to see whether and which concierge options are still available. This might give you an idea of possible upgrade opportunities for next year. Also next year both Wonder and Magic will be in Alaska so double opportunities for concierge.

Sailed one time Concierge Family Stateroom with Verrandah on the Dream. Bathrooms same size. The finishes in the Concierge Stateroom are more upscale and elegant, same with hallways.

And we got a Cabana on CC on that concierge cruise.

I believe the only way to get a cabana these days is to book concierge.

As mentioned you need to be in a suite to experience the larger bathrooms and showers.

I have two sons 6'6" and 6'8" tall, both showered exclusively in the men's locker room the last two cruises.

I had a RainForest pass on my last cruise on the Dream and showered everday in the ladies locker room.

Regarding price at port, someone I follow on YouTube mentioned that they saved on Concierge 1 bedroom at the port.
But it was a 1 bedroom. I can see them having no need to discount Family Staterooms, I bet you they go quickly at the port.

Just so you know the savings at the port for an upgrade to concierge are negligible now. At one time you could get a deal at the port but not any more.
I must be lucky - I have upgraded to concierge on four sailings since December 2024 for a fraction of what it would have costed ahead of time for two passengers.

Wow, we've done 31 DCL cruises since 2005 and upgraded 4 times pre 2016 after that the prices quoted at the port were only a couple hundred off the listed concierge price and we travel off peak. Good for you.

We have taken 5 DCL cruises and went Concierge each time. The first was many years ago when Disney was really trying to promote this product and the difference between Concierge and regular family stateroom was $700 total. For 4 people. We did not know anything about DCL at the time but had young kids so figured why not. Huge mistake because now we can't seem to break away from Concierge and now the prices are INSANE!!! They never offer discounts. I follow them all the time - one sailing last year only was 20% booked for Concierge within 30 days of sailing and the price never dropped. I asked my TA about this and she said she has never seen them drop a Concierge price (and the walk up upgrades may have something to do with it but we never did that so will let others comment).

We have stayed in a Concierge family stateroom (Dream, Wish, Fantasy) and a one bedroom on the Dream. As others have said, the bathroom in the Concierge family stateroom is the same as a regular family stateroom. However, the one bedroom on the Dream has two full bathrooms. The master bathroom is very good size including a full tub and double sinks and separate shower area.

As for others joining you if they have regular rooms, they certainly can come to your room at any time. However, they are not permitted in the Concierge lounge which is a huge benefit of Concierge, imo. They also would not be able to partake in anything that is special for Concierge guests like going to the shows early, character meet and greets, etc. We have always been able to book a Cabana at CC by being Concierge (and we go during high times due to school schedules) and were able to add a family from home we ran into on the ship to our Cabana and they were not Concierge. The one thing we truly love about Concierge is the separate floor and just being much quieter in that area overall. (See caveat for Magic and Wonder below).

We have a Cap One and do not recall ever seeing a Disney cruise for redemptions. We are also DVC and could use points for the cruise but definitely not worth it for the amount of points it takes.

Not sure what ship is doing Alaska at that time because I have not kept up but Wonder and Magic were retrofitted with Concierge Lounges after the fact so the actual Concierge rooms are next to regular rooms - not on a separate floor/wing. This may be a better option to be closer to your relatives not doing Concierge but again, no access to anything special Concierge can get.

I think you are indeed lucky... we've sailed 14 times since 2011, mostly in the off season, and have had zero opportunity to. Concierge is always sold out.
I suspect those who want to try concierge would target an off-season cruise given the high price...

I'm usually someone who gets hoodwinked into upgrades but have not been able to justify the concierge price premium so far... If/when we start wanting bigger rooms/suites we are likely to switch over to HAL or Princess.

The first was many years ago when Disney was really trying to promote this product and the difference between Concierge and regular family stateroom was $700 total. For 4 people.

My biggest regret is not booking concierge on our honeymoon for a difference of a couple hundred dollars. I saw the prices but didn't hit book because I wanted to talk it over with my now husband before we booked....yeah it was gone by the time we went to book.

I only sailed Concierge once, back in 2014, late August on the Dream.

If memory serves me, around $2400 for 4 of us on a 3 night sailing. It may have been less. I could not pass up that price.

I grab a Cabana too. So far, I have not had the $$ to sail Concierge again.

Great memories, loved it! If I could I sail Concierge everytime.
