What days would be the best to visit Both parks (Universal and IOA) between Oct 4 and Oct 17 2011? Is it busier during the weekend or weekday?

Try to go to the Studios on a Monday or Tuesday so you can stay the extra hour. Halloween Horror Nights is at the Studios in October and on those nights, the park closes an hour early at 5pm. IOA it won't really matter which day you go there.

Last year IOA stayed open until 7pm on nights that HHN was staged.

I'm trying to figure which 2-3 of my precious 14 days on site at WDW should be used for USO..... similar dates, just a bit earlier... Sep28-Oct 12 instead of Oct 4-17.

Not interested in HHN, so that seems to suggest Mon/Tue would be good nights, because it seemmmmms that HHN is W/T/F/S/S ... is that right?

I'm thinking that because Oct 8/9/8 S/S/M is a long weekend, USO might be mobbed as well as WDW (I know that SAT/SUN has predictions of way higher crowd level than the prev weekend)

No crowd calendars to speak of but you can use the Express Plus pass pricing chart to see when the lightest anticipated crowds will be:

The cheaper the pass, the lighter the anticipated crowds.

You are correct about HHN...it's Thursday-Sunday and a Wednesday or two thrown in towards the middle of the month. Columbus Day weekend is really crowded at all parks so it's best to avoid that weekend if you can. It's best to go to the Studios on Monday or Tuesday since HHN is not staged on those nights.
