Wednesday afternoon I picked my grandaughters up in Oceanside from school and scooted off the the DL hotel. Got a beautiful room. Not overlooking the pool but overlooking part of Downtown Disney and the gardens out back. The new rooms are lovely. We had a very large room with a couch and chair. Two queen beds and lots of room. All the fixtures are gorgeous. The closets are heavy duty and some of the nicest I've seen. The rooms are so much nicer and bigger than the Grand's. The pools (which we headed right to) are great of course. They are heated and we all went on the waterslides. They are wonderful. The only problem I see is all the regular pools are 4 foot deep ALL around, no shallow end.
This won't work well for the little ones. Over at the waterslide pools there are some shallow parts perfect for the toddlers, but what if mom and dad don't want to be where the "crzy" is. It is quite loud and splash over there. No problem for us as my 8 year old granddaughters swim like fish.
After a nice swim we headed to CA for a quick trip on Soarin' and griffly run. Grizzly run was closed no big deal, we had quite a bit of water already.
Then we went on Soarin' with no wait! Great!! We did little Mermaid with no waitalso. We then went to dinner at Rainforest Cafe. Certainly not my favorite place but since it was the girls birthday gift, they picked there. It was quite good. We had a seat upstairs by the elephants. The waitress was super accomodating to one of my picky girls and understanding of my weight loss surgery and made sure my meal was small.
Back to the hotel we went back to the pool, had fun, then toddled upstairs.
We were in the "Adventure tower". Very nice, no wait for the elevator and our room wasn't very far, (much better than the long walk you often get at the grand). We spent a lovely evening had a good sleep, got up around 7:30 and waited for our room service. We had 6 fast passes and early entry at 9:00. Ate our breakfast and headed over to the mouse. It was a lovely warm day, around 77 degrees and NOT crowded! We were able to go on everything over and over. We walked on to everything except big thunder, we had to wait 15 minutes. This was a lovely day and I'll remember next year that the week before President's Day is a good one. The hotel also offered us the next night for only $129.00 I was sure tempted, but they had to get back to school:sad1
