My friends and I were planning on attending HHN 2012, however our dates have gotten all messed up. We wanted to go Sept 27-30, but something has come up and we have to reschedule. So I am wondering if it would be less busy Sept 20th or Oct 4th, I'm not sure if HHN is even going to be open Sept 20th. The only thing I worry about is the hotels really go up in price in Oct. and we are trying to go as cheap as possible.

HHN won't be on thursday september 20th so plan on thursday October 4th.

i don't see that night having large crowds.
it is a non peak night and early in the season.

in fact, it is one of the hhn nights i plan to be there.

about the hotels, their prices are already out.
only the ap rates are not known at this point.
the AAA rates are available and the promo is available.

if you stay 3 nights or more, you can use the promo SMSM.
i have not checked that booking site lately but it could be at a 4 night stay.

i booked over 5 months ago when it had the 3 night requirement to use that promo rate.

Thanks for your quick reply, I guess we will be going in October. Do you know if they usually have AP discounts on hotels during HHN? I plan on checking back often but if they don't normally have the AP rate then I will just go ahead and book the SMSM rate.
Also I LOVE PBH, but RPR is cheaper, do you think it is worth the hassle to pool hop to the PBH from RPR or should we just stay at PBH. This will probably be a once in a lifetime trip for my friends so I want it to be amazing.

Go ahead and book the SMSM rate if you can. If a cheaper AP rate gets released at a later date, you can switch to the cheaper rate with no penalty.

i booked with the smsm rate but can change when the ap rate comes out and if it is lower. i have a 10 days stay onsite and the promo rate is a good one.
you could do that also.

the ap rates for october have not been released yet.
when it is, there will be dates available.

how many nights onsite do you have planned?

i am crazy about RPH!

I go with the king suite and have plenty of room there for myself.

don't know if you should do rph or pbh.
i guess it depends on how many will be in the room and what type of hotel ambiance thrills you the most.

you said this trip is once in a lifetime for your friends.
have them check out the pictures of the two hotels and decide which one looks like it is meant for them.

pool hopping is a breeze.
i have stayed at rph and hopped to pbh without any issues.

take the water taxi from rph to city walk, switch to the water taxi to pbh.

easy peasy.

We are planning 3 nights on site, I will be paying for 2 of the nights and for one of their teenage boys (tickets, food & souvenirs.)

There will be three adults and two teenage boys, and we have an inflatable matress. I have stayed at both RPH and PBH and I thought PBH was amazing. They brought us chilled towels and frozen grapes by the pool, and the hot tubs were large, had water falls and were empty.

Now that I have been spoiled I just don't want to settle.

if all 5 are staying in one room, you would have more floor space at pbh, but that you already know.

if you won't be in the room except to sleep and shower, you can make do with the sleeping arrangements at rph if you want to save some $$

since you have 3 adults, either way you will end up paying the extra $25 per night for the 3rd adult.
if the teens are 17 and under, you can have everyone in one room.

i can remember last october two days it poured rain around noon.
the staff at RPH meet the guests at the boat dock and the entrance door to the elevators with warm thick towels to dry off with.
nice added touch!

i have no idea which hotel would be best for you all.
there are +'s at all 3 hotels.

i go solo and get a king suite.
other solo guests don't do that.
