I'm thinking way ahead and I'm trying to put together a list of options for date night places so H and I can pick together. I've never been to Disney World and H hasn't been in 20 years. What are your favorite places for date nights?

Jiko, narcoosee's... I got engaged in Disney and we ate at Monsieur Paul. We are planning our first trip back since then with no kids for the fall and I want to mainly snack and bar hop!! Looking forward to cava de tequila and some of the cool bars in Epcot.
I would say the resort restaurants later in the evening IMO have fewer kids although there will always be kids. California grill and v&a may be the exception and the obvious choice but I have never eaten there so can't speak to that for sure.

  1. Victoria & Albert's if you want to splurge.
  2. bluezoo
  3. Shula's if you are into steak.
  4. Jiko
  5. California Grill (the setting is great but be aware that it will be crowded, loud and full of families as opposed to couples.)
  6. Monsieur Paul
  7. Il Mulino
  8. Citricos

Our date nights are always at Shula's or bluezoo. We've found them to have the least amount of unsupervised kids. And the food and service and ambiance are fabulous which is most important.

Definitely Victoria & Alberts (but yes it's an absolute splurge... We loved Saana even though it's more casual. We also tried Narcoossee's last time we went and the view of MK & the water pageant was really fun although the food was just ok in our opinion.

CA Grill is too hit-or-miss for us to consider it for date night.

We prefer the fireworks possibility at Narcoossee's to Citrico's or Jiko's (unless staying at AKLodge).

Otherwise, this list works.

Add Capa at Four Seasons too.

San Angel Inn (the one inside the Mexico Pavilion with a view of the water & volcano w/the boats going by). I haven't been there in a few years but I had the strip steak which was cooked to perfection.

There's a lot of great options but I still think Sanaa or Jiko are the top choices. Neither restaurant seems to get overly crowded, most of each restuarant has intimate enough seating where you're not on top of another table (the half booth/chair section at the back of Sanaa being the only exception) and I've had exemplary service at both restaurants.

I know people consider them more "adventurous" restaurants, but there's definitely enough choices on each menu that are pretty safe.

My personal favorites when it's just me and my DW. I am omitting Victoria & Albert's which is in a league of it's own both in the food quality, service and price. Well worth it though, we loved it last year.
  1. Narcoossee's... I love the food. I love watching the Electrical Water Pageant go past. I love watching wishes from the restaurant. And afterwards a wonderful stroll around the resort grounds and then spend some great time in the main building enjoying the orchestra or the piano player.
  2. Jiko. Very quite restaurant. Excellent service. Very good food. I love the resort and enjoy walking around it. The lobby is very noisy and very busy, but incredible. Spending a little time looking at the safari is also very nice.
  3. Artist Point. This one comes in under the radar. Another very quite restaurant. Excellent service. Very good food. (love the salmon). The Wilderness Lodge is a very breathtaking resort to visit as well.
  4. Monsieur Paul. I love this place; a bit pricey if OOP, but very good food. Some say stuffy service, In both my times there I didn't experience that. Very quite restaurant.
  5. California Grill. This one is precariously on my list. I so much want to love this place and just can't. Our experiences have been inconsistent service. No complaints on the food, it has been good; not great, but good. Very good sushi. A rather boring and uninspiring dessert menu for a signature restaurant. The place can be extremely noisy, and I do mean noisy. But the view of the MK and Wishes is spectacular.
In June I will be trying Citricos, Blue Zoo and Morimoto Asia for the first time. We'll see if one of these is added to the top 5 and bumping one of the above out.

Victoria & Albert. But for cheaper, Jiko. Food, service, and atmosphere are great. Next to Victoria & Albert, it's one of the quieter nice restaurants at Disney.

I know that I am in the minority here, but I have always been let down by Narcoossee's. I am not adverse to an expensive meal as long as it impresses me. But if I were to make a list of my five meals that I have ever had worldwide that failed to live up to expectations given the price paid, two of them would be at Narcoossee's. And what's funny is that on a recent podcast, Kevin and Pete had this same divide. Kevin lauded praise on Narcoossee's whereas Pete couldn't have been less impressed. Pete and I are on the same page here.

I would consider us to be adventurous eaters :) My husband worked in kitchens for years so we LOVE trying new things.

I have never been 'wowed' by Narcoosee's either.

And that's what we enjoy about Narcoossee's - the consistency.

Other than when the Fried Whole 'Dragon' Fish was removed from the menu, I have never been too disappointed either.

We enjoy a hint of spicy - some of the best Calamari anywhere garnished with peppers (secrets in the use of multiple flours) and a glass of something cold - these are a few moments of vacation pleasure.

Narcoossee's is an upscale New England-style seafood place that strikes a calm balance of well prepared (sea)food and ambiance that can be missing in all too many Disney Signatures. Citrico's is lovely too (likely better), but fireworks are not on their menu. The ability to then stroll the Grand Floridian is charming.
