I live in NY where there are great cupcake places ~ Magnolias, Billys, Sugar Sweet Sunshine, Amy's etc. Are there any truly outstanding cupcakes in WDW?? Where are they?? Whats your favorite???

I too worship at Magnolia's, Buttercup, and my all time fav Crumbs! :worship: :worship: :worship:
While very good, I wouldn't compare the WDW cupcakes to any of these. Most of the time they are great, they can be dry, but the icing is more along the lines of the really sugary store bought kind than one of the NYC's buttercreams. Now, I do enjoy that sugary goodness (or cheapness rather) every now and then, and they look great, so if you feel like a cupcake, have one! (It's nothing like their special order cakes though...YUM) If you are a cup cake snob (I know a few!!!) then I would say pass, there are sooooo many amazing desserts that you will not miss out if you pass on a cup cake. I would almost say try something else (like the stickybuns on Main Street) since they do some many other desserts really really well, and you can feed your inner cupcake monster when you get home!

Happy Cupcake Eating :goodvibes

Darn now I that I'm thinking about cupcakes I think I will be making a stop at Crumbs on my way home.......:lovestruc

***disclaimer: I'm not a chocolate cake person, so I can only speak for the vanilla/vanilla cup cakes!

Yep -- Crumbs is the best! Nothing like it in Orlando that I know of.

The WDW cupcakes aren't bad, but I just (last week) found a WONDERFUL cupcake shop here in Orlando (better than any others I've tried, which is 7 or so shops around the country).

The website is: http://www.sweetbyholly.com/

The store is in the Waterford Lakes shopping center, which is 15 or so minutes from the airport (but not in the direction of Disney). If you go - the Boston Cream cupcake is to die for!

For anyone going to Disneyland, there is a shop called Susie's Cakes which is my favorite there (out of 5 or so shops that a friend of mine took me to). They have huge slices of cake also, it's a wonderful bakery! http://www.susiecakesla.com/

That one is in Newport Beach.

Thanks everyone. Did you see Cupcake week on Martha?? It was awesome. Different special cupcake each day. I plan on ordering a special cake for the twins b'day.I guess I'll just have to try all the other desserts WDW has to offer. Its a tough job but I'm up to the challenge.

Unfortunately I won't have a car so I can't try sweet by Holly. Maybe next trip.

For those who can get to the Sweet by Holly shop, I just found (on the site) an email club where you can sign up and get a free cupcake. I hadn't seen that before!

Publix has a wonderful bakery, and the cupcakes at the resorts tend to be good. They aren't "gourmet" cupcakes, but tasty.

Crumbs holds a special place in my heart! I wish there were such a place in WDW. I don't know how I will do without my weekly fix!

just wanted to agree with everyone that Crumb's rocks! The cupcakes at Disney are more like 'supermarket' cupcakes, if that makes sense, although I do vaguely remember getting a 'ganache-y' cupcake somewhere...Boardwalk Bakery?

twinglemum do any of those cup cake places in NY ship ? my DD is a huge cupcake fan & would love to try them for her birthday next year

I've been dying for a red velvet cupcake from Magnolias! I was never a cupcake person before having one (OK, 3). I'm glad we are 45 mins away, or I'd blow up on these every day!!

I am not big on cupcakes so my standards might not be the same as some others. I find the cupcakes at Roaring Fork in Wilderness Lodge to be better than any others at WDW.

Hmmmm.... I might be sensing the beginings of a Dis Crumbs meet! And you're right, for some reason the RF @ WL does seem to have really good cupcakes, and I think I'll have to check out the Bakery. Never had theirs!

Gee, I don't know but I think Magnolia is a tad over rated. How Sweet It Is kicks their butt. I don't know if they ship you can call them (212)777-0418 they are on Allen st in NYC. There is a great place in Calif called the Vanilla Bake Shop I think they ship. Vanillabakeshop.com Good luck sounds like a great party idea. Maybe you could get her a cupcake cookbook for Christmas and the tools to go with it (cupcake liners, pastry bags, sprinkles, food dyes etc.. I have the Cake Mix Doctors Cupcake cookbook and its lots of fun and not too hard to follow. Good beginner book)

Disneyfan62-

I am not sure where you are located in PA but Pittsburgh has a few cupcake places now. They are in Shadyside & Squirrel Hill. I know one is called Dozen's but can't remember which one. But my favorite specialty cupcakes are from Oakmont bakery. I love the Elvis in Oakmonter!!!!!!

Forget Magnolia...I LOVE Crumbs! My cupcake from The Plaza in the MK for my bday was good though.
To the poster looking for a good red velvet cupcake in NYC...try Crumbs!!!

I always go with the cinnamon roll at Main St Bakery instead of hunting down a cupcake

Crumbs makes the ULTIMATE red velvet cupcake. Ugh. I could gorge myself on them. I don't like Magnolia myself. I went once and just...could live without it I guess.

A DIS Crumbs meet would be AWESOME!

OK, I work in NYC every day and I do not know of this Crumbs! Where is it?

Two things,
One: in NYC Two Red Hen's also makes some amazing cupcakes.
Two: I live here in NYC, and have never heard of crumbs...were is it?
(Two and a half, I too am not a Magnolia fan...ick)

Ohhh, Two Red Hens, I am citysearching that now!
Not to bring this thread waaaaaay off WDW Dinning topics.....

The 3 crumbs I know of (and I'm sure they're are more)
3rd ave, I wanna say 78 or 79th St (I just walk up from work, never pay attention to the cross street!)
There is one right across from Bryant Park on 42nd I believe, again I'm bad with numbers, I just know where it is!
E73Street & Columbus Ave

check our their web site for the actual addresses, crumbs.com
