We don't have ADRs for our first night, and have a few CS meals we need to fill in. We'll be staying at WL, and thought it would be fun to hop on the boat to CR, and then take the monorail to one of the hotels and eat at one of their CS restauants. Do any of the monorail hotels CS locations stand out as a good meal other than burgers and fries? We don't want to use a park day, so a park CS isn't an option.

Thanks for any opinions.

Captain Cook's at the Poly. They have different selections than the others. They have amazing flatbread pizza too.

I also agree that Captain Cooks at the Poly would be my choice for a monorail CS. Besides, jusy spending time at the Poly is fun! :yay: Here is the menu for your review:

Aloha Pork Sandwich - pulled pork with barbecue sauce, pineapple cole claw, cheddar cheese, cucumbers, and tomatoes, served warm on a pineapple-coconut hoagie roll $6.99

Multigrain Turkey Club - sliced turkey breast with Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon and honey-dijon mayonnaise on a multigrain sunflower bread $7.99

Salads

Polynesian Salad with Chicken - mixed greens with cucumbers, golden pineapple, cherry tomato, chives, blue cheese and crisp wonton noodles in a citrus-sesame dressing $7.99

Caesar Salad with Chicken - romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese with caesar dressing and crisp flatbread croutons $6.99

From the Wok

Stir-fried Noodles - chicken and vegetables with Udon noodles in lemon-grass infused sauce garnished with fried wontons $6.99

From the Grill

Grown-up Grilled Cheese - multigrain sunflower bread with cheddar, swiss, and blue cheese, frisee and tomato $6.49

Double Cheeseburger - cooked to order and served with lettuce and tomato $6.89

Flatbreads - freshly prepared on Mediterranean flatbread crust

Traditional - marinara sauce and mozzarella with pepperoni $7.19

Hawaiian - ham golden pineapple, tomato sauce, mozzarella, and parmesan $7.99

Flatbread of the Day - $7.99

Another recommendation for Captain Cook's! I've eaten there twice and had the polynesian salad both times. And Dole Whips are an option for dessert if you're on the DDP.

OMG!!!! I can't believe I forgot the DOLE WHIPS!!!

For that alone you must go!

Could you please tell me "What is a Dole Whip?" Thank you

It's like pineapple soft serve- more like sherbert than ice cream.

I would suggest Capt. Cooks, too, because it's been recently refurbished and has some unique choices. Afterwards you could maybe talk a walk on the beach.

My least favorite CS on the monorail would have to be the Food and Fun Center at the Contemporary. Always seems dirty and loud to me.

We did a monorail tour once, just to look at the CS. Cap't Cooks was great. We actually left the MK one day and ate there!

We tried the following: Aloha Pork Sandwich, Multigrain Turkey Club and Grown-up Grilled Cheese. All were good. We highly recommend it. (And the soft serve pineapple "Dole Whip" was a nice bonus!)

SOLD. I didn't know they had Dole whips there.
The salad does sound great too.

Thanks everyone. It looks unanimous.

Exactly where is Cap'n Cooks? I know how to get to 'Ohanas and Konas, but am afraid those are the only two places I've been at Poly.

Captain Cooks sounds incredible -- I think I'm going to have to pay it a visit in November.

What about other monorail choices?

The first time I went, by boat, I had no idea either. I think you follow the path to the right as you get off the boat and it will take you right there. From the monorail, go downstairs to the first floor, go to the other side of the waterfall, and go down the hall past the restrooms. If I remember correctly, Captain Cook's is off to the right a little at the end of the hall. If not, you're close enough to see it anyways.

Sorry- can't help you with the other CS places on the monorail, besides Captain Cook's which we all loved. We've eaten breakfast (I had to have Tonga Toast after hearing so much about it) and lunch there. Both were great.

We've also eaten at the CR's counter service and found it was okay- pretty much what they have everywhere else from my memory but it was a long time ago (2002).

Have a great trip.

yes its called gasparillas and they have great burgers and hot dogs and pizza, sandwiches, salads, etc. etc. there is a menu on allearsnet.com we ate there many many times in january. you can watch wishes from teh tables outside, too!

My family and I always liked the Food & Fun Center at the Contemporary, so it's to bad they are closing at the end of this month. However I can't wait until they re-open on the 4th floor in the Concourse Steakhouse location as Chef Mickey's Express.

We also like Gasparilla's Grill & Games at the Grand Floridian because they have a good selection of food on both their menus, plus their Ice Cream and Yogurt from their machine tastes amazing.
