Best creative idea for character autographs??

One year my sibs and I bought hats that said Disney World on it with the year and had the characters sign that. It made it easier to remember what trip it was from too.

The last trip my sister and I took selfies with the characters then we used a service called Groove Book. Its an app on your phone that lets you upload pictures and you get a book of 100 photos. These can be ripped out if you want or left together.

You couldn't do it for everyone but DD4's prize possession is:

I am so doing this is October! Can you tell me what it was signed with, Sharpie or something else? I want to make sure the signature doesn't come off. Thanks!

Last year's trip was my daughter's first, and we took a pillowcase to be signed, too. I took a spare white pillowcase and had our local monogram shop add a Minnie head and my daughter's name. I carried it into the parks in a giant Ziploc bag with a piece of cardboard inside. I used alligator clips to position the pillowcase for each character. I had colored fabric markers and each character chose a different one. I did have to go back over each autograph at home because some wrote lighter than others, but that was ok. Black probably would have been a better choice, but I wanted her to have a colorful pillowcase. We'll take it with us again on this year's trip to get autographs we missed last year.

First of all I'm so doing the frying pan thing next trip!!

I got tired of the autograph books too, just kind of outgrew them, and so I did a t-shirt with a fabric marker. I put it on one of the small clipboards and fold it around to make it tight and the characters sign it! I've had a lot of CMs tell me that was awesome and Minnie "told" me that it was a good idea last trip! (She pointed to the shirt and then to her head and gave me a thumbs up!)

I've enjoyed this project a lot and even though the shirt says 2013 (the BEL13VE in Magic one, my favorite design in a while) I'm still having characters sign it!! Really want to do the pillowcase though for a travel pillow!! That'd be awesome!!

My friend's daughter decorated frying pans for her other daughter and mine on our 2012 trip. She brought a paint pen for them to sign with.

This one takes some planning but it's pretty fun.

I know a family that, on their first ever trip took pictures of all of their favourite characters and then made an autograph book out of all of the pictures. Then on the next trip, they went to the same characters and had them sign the pictures from last time, and at the same time took a picture of the character holding up the signed page. This new picture was then used for the next trip. An so it continued for several trips.

I did a book with character photos from all of our prior trips and we have been trying to get them all signed. I have photos of them looking through the book, but didn't think of doing a photo of them holding the page up. Sounds like a good plan for our next trip. :thumbsup2

I ordered this to take on our next trip:

We've never done autographs, but the kids starting noticing other kids doing it on our last trip and wanted to do it. I said no, because I don't want a book filled with autographs they'll never look at again. This will be something that hopefully they'll be interested in looking through for years.

I plan on photo mats for the character dinners & Princess poster for the meet & greets. We used a back on the last trip. I will keep the mats & poster on a clip board to keep them from getting messed up in the bag.

My wife and I went to WDW this past January. Before we left, I made a Mickey Mouse Silhouette out of 1/4" plywood and stained it light blue, it was about 15" wide, so large enough for signatures but still managable. We had each character we met sign it. I added a clip to the back so we could easily attach to our back-pack to carry it and display it was we walked the parks. We got quite a few positive comments on the idea, and the characters seemed to enjoy finding an appropriately prominent spot. Of course we saved a space in the center for Mickey!

I wish I paid attention in shop class, because this sounds awesome.

One fun one I plan to try this year is having Buzz sign Buzz' wings. My DS was Buzz for Halloween and still insists on wearing the costume weekly around the house, so how cool would it be to have the wings signed?

We're going in September and expecting our first LO in January. I want to take a Disney story book along and have the characters sign somewhere in the book. Thought it would be very cute for the nursery.

I printed off autograph cards that I got from the Design board here, then slipped them into a pocket page photo album (divided the cards between the two kids). We had the characters sign the cards and made sure to get a picture with each character. While at WDW I bought a Disney photo album with the year on it. When we got our photos printed I stuck the picture with the character next to their autograph in the album - that way all of our memories are in one book!

This is something we have done our past couple trips. We have gotten Little Golden books and small, lightweight children's books for specific characters that are important to the kids and had the characters autograph on a page with their character. When we return home, these books are used as bedtime stories. I plan to keep them and pass them to my kids when they grow up. So far we have Peter Pan (Peter, Wendy, Tinkerbell, Captain Hook, & Mr. Smee), Cinderella (Cinderella, Prince Charming, Step Mother, & Stepsisters), Frozen (Elsa & Anna), and Mickey (Fab 5 and Daisy) books signed. If I could get all the dwarfs, I'd love to get our Snow White book signed!

Something different I did this year was create an 8.5 x 11 card on zazzle.com. It is a "Good Luck in Kindergarten" card with a Walt Disney quote. DS5 is anxious about starting school, so I wanted for him to have the "support" of his Disney friends to wish him pixie dust on his first day. The characters LOVED signing the card and talking to him about how much fun he will have. Now, DS5 is already counting down the days to school!

Sorry to disappoint you, but Buzz does not sign due to the nature of his costume. He uses a stamp.

Haven't read all the replies yet... but we had a Disney Storybook at home that we started using as the autograph book. DD has been getting the characters to sign on a page with their picture (if available), or just on some page. It is cute to see the signatures by their pages, and it's something that will last a LONG time!

I took an autograph quilt square and buzz signed it with my fabric pen. So he is able to do it if he wants to. Granted I was pregnant and making the quilt for my new baby so I was probably a pretty sympathetic subject lol

:rotfl2: Yes, I'm sure it would have been difficult for him to refuse you. What a sweet idea. :goodvibes

I printed out a mix of 5x7 and 8x10 photos of the characters and put them all in a 3-ring binder. Some of the photos were stock and some of them were of my dd's with characters from prior trips. Each character signed their photo. When we got home we made a collage of the photos in poster frames and hung them up in the kids bedrooms. Wonderful memories that they get to remember every day!

We've also done hats, a poster (that wasn't easy to carry around the parks), our park Disney backpack, t-shirts, etc. I was happiest with the photo poster collage tho!

The only problem for me with the Character Encyclopedias is they are heavy and bulky. If you have a stroller, it would be fine. I am thinking of a tote bag and fabric pens for each DD.

Although, I have to say, they really like their autograph books. The ones with a spot for a photo are the best.
