I have a few very faded scars on my checks from past acne. Can anyone recommend a good cream or lotion that minimizes the appearances of these things? I prefer to stay under the $100 mark per month of product.

You can try mederma. It is OTC. There are other products as well. I suggest asking either your doctor, dermatologist, or your local pharmacist for suggestions too.
Make sure to wear proper sunscreen protection. SPF 15 at least, or higher. Also with the right foundation and powder, that can really help with minimizing the appearance of less than perfect skin. A primer is very good to use too, for it aids in setting your makeup for the day.

Have an awesome time at the land! :)

A friend recommended StriVectin to me. It is meant to help with wrinkles and I guess an added bonus / side effect is it has helped some people with their acne scarring. I got a 3 pc starter kit for under $100 at Ulta and have just started using it. We shall see.....

I like Mederma. Have used it for years. Anytime I get a scratch I apply it and it does work. It also works on old scars but you need to apply more often. It does dry and peel but works!

I had a 3 inch scratch across the back of my hand last year from a nail and used Mederma faithfully for several weeks. Today I cant tell what hand I scratched looking at both.

Years ago I had great luck with a scar minimizing product that Curad made but it required putting a bandage on so it wouldn't be good on the face (mine is from a knee surgery). I also had pretty good luck with Mederma. As someone else said, make sure you keep the scars covered with a good SPF. The sun can burn them sooner than regular skin.

I've also had good luck with mederma. I used the target brand version on a scar DD had and it worked well too.

I had breast cancer and reconstructive surgery, so lots of scars. My plastic surgeon told me that it's not actually the lotion that makes a difference, it's the fact that you are rubbing it and increasing the blood flow.

He told me to use any type of lotion that I wanted, even cheap lotion or if I preferred I could just use soap and rub my scars while in the shower. He said not to waste my money on scar creams. He said even rubbing with just your hands will work, but it's easier with some kind of cream or soap.:thumbsup2

This is true. Rubbing shea butter into an old scar helped it fade and it melts in and feels so nice and soft afterward.

A general warning about Mederma. I had my thyroid removed so I have the lovely "knife-fight" scar at the base of my neck. Per the surgeon's office I applied Mederma, and it was getting itchy and red. Luckily after 3-4 days I had an appointment with my endocrinologist who asked me what I was putting on the scar (it was healed about 18 days post op when I first applied the Mederma). I am one of a very few people on the planet allergic to Mederma.:confused3

The endocrinologist, the surgeon, my primary had never seen it before. I even spot tested it on my arm to make certain it was the lotion and not something related to the surgery, and a couple hours after application the spot on my arm turned bright red.

OP-you will probably have no problem with the product. However my words of warning are, if it gets red and itchy stop immediately. As my endocrinologist said, if she didn't see it she would not have believed I was allergic to Mederma. I know I am a medical freak. :sad2:

I know I am a medical freak.

ME TOO!! I can't get near anything with Shea Butter, cotton fields, Hay, or dust, I can't empty vacuums that don't have paper bags!! Oh and NO Clay cat box litter!!! or stuff made with foreign countries water in their prouducts!!

But apparently brain tumors are encapsulated and then are calcified!!
Good News for me but the DOC said I was a Medical Miracle!! *Read medical freakazoid!!*
