What are some of the good counter service restaurants at DL- we like Casey's at MK at WDW. Are there any similar places?

I can't remember what Casey's offers so I can't make a comparison for you.

But out favorite in DL is the French Market. I'm a sucker for creole food which is what they sell since they are in New Orleans Square. Every trip I absolutely have to have the Jambalaya. But the fried chicken and beef stew are really good too.

In CA, our favorite is Taste Pilot's Grill. It's a burger place with huge burgers with the fixin's bar, much like the one in Tomorrowland at WDW (sorry can't remember the name). Taste Pilot's is the only place in DL or CA that has the fixin's bar.

One other good place is the Rancho Del (something something) in DL. They have mexican inspired food but also have grilled chicken and shrimp. I love the mexican ceasar salad here.

Mmmmm, Casey's! One of our favorites too!

In DCA I like the Pacific Wharf. They have great bread bowls. One of my favorites is the clam chowder bread bowl.

Usually, when we eat in DL I like the Blue Bayou at lunch. Sorry it is not counter but DD and I share a Monte Cristo and really don't spend too much money. Plus, the atmosphere is too cool!

The Pizza place in DL. They had all sorts of pasta dishes along with pizza. There was a line at opening every time we went by.

I'll second taste pilots grill in DCA.

We like the Italian place in Tomorrowland...Red Rockets Pizza Port. The salads are good and the pasta is better than the usual fast food offerings.

Definitely try both Red Rocket's Pizza Port in TL and Rancho Del Zocalo in FL...the food at both is great!

Rancho del Zocola is my favorite. Then it used to be Plaza Inn for Pasta, but it wasn't very good last time we went (July).

Whispering Canyon at Grand. It has the BEST chicken nachos around.

Need more info. on this. Where is this located exactly? What comes on the Nachos? Makes me hungry thinking about this.

It is really good. It is at Grand Californian Hotel. It is down from Story Tellers by the pool. It is great to dart out of California Adventure and go right over there. It is a giant portion. Enough for two possibly three. There are these kind of long nacho chips, but they are made with veggie oil. Then there is the cheese, both the creamy and the shredded. Then it is chicken which is done with a little bit of lime seasoning. It is really tender and juicy, they pile it on. Then there is guack, sour creme and peppers. It is really really good, probably the best kept secret at DL. It is about $7. It is made to order, so you sit down and it is brought out to you about 5mins later. It is really good! Worth trying!

The Pinocchio's Hamburgers/ Cheeseburgers in Fantasyland are not good and quite expensive.

I like the chicken kebobs in Adventureland near the Indiana Jones ride..I also love the banana parfaits there.

The clam chowder is really good at the New Orleans stand near the Baton Rouge. I also love the mint julips, yum.

My son usually gets a candy apple from Pooh's corner, or some brown sugar popcorn--even the hot popped popcorn off the stands in New Orleans or Main Street is quite good.

I would not recommend the mozzarella sticks or the chicken strips from the Golden Horseshoe or the Stage Coach cafe...not good.

I guess I'm in the minority but I'm not crazy about the food at the Rancho Del Zocado...I LOVE the decor, but the food is just mediocre.

The ice cream cones at CA (catch a flave) are fantastic, and I think the chicken strips in CA near the carnival area of CA is much better than the chicken strips at the Stage Coach cafe.

We've had good experiences at the Pilot's Grill in CA, and love the food at the Storyteller's Cafe in the Grand Californian (not take out, though...oops) and the Whispering Canyon at the hotel. My son also loves the corn dogs at CA and the bagel dogs at Wetzel's pretzels in downtown Disney :lovestruc

Ladyhawke- where do you get the brown sugar popcorn? That sounds really good!

It's at Pooh's corner--they have several flavors--I think it might be called caramel Popcorn, I'm not sure, but on the ingredients it's flavored with brown sugar and corn syrup, and it tastes like Brown sugar so we refer to it that way. It's really good! It's only about 3 or 4 dollars for a bag.

Guys--the place you're thinking of is Whitewater Snacks at the GCA (and I'll second the nachos. The chicken sandwich is great too). Whispering Canyon is at the Wilderness Logde at WDW.

I thought I was freaking out here with the Whispering Canyon reference - I thought I missed something :earseek: !! Hand down, for the money, I say Whitewater. It is away from the park, but so easy to go in and out through the entrance at the GC. My kids usually split a kids meal, I always get the chicken sandwich, which is huge, and my wife and teenage son get chicken salad sandwhiches that are pre-made and in the cooler (I think they have tuna also). This place has great portions, is a decent value (for DL anyway) and is usually not crowded at all - so it is a nice little lunch break spot.

Inside DL, we like the Pizza Port, decent pastas (my wife couldn't finish her meatballs and spaghetti last week), with goos sized pizza slices. Last week, I also tried the asian chicken salad, which was good too. We also get a 10% discount there for either our annual pass, or our DVC card gets us the discount as well.
