Best Counter service place at AK?

What is your favorite cs place at AK and what do you like the best? Also, what place or menu items should we stay away from?

Flame Tree BBQ
For me the Ribs and DW the BBQ chicken

Flame Tree BBQ is by far the best CS in AK. DH and I split a meal (1/2 chicken)since the portions are so big!! I normally walk down and get DS pizza from Pizzafaria...which is totally gross IMO! But he enjoys it.

I have eaten at both Pizzafari and Flame Tree. Both were good and some of the best cs meals I have had in Disney. I prefer Flame Tree over Pizzafari. Very good BBQ pulled pork. I know the buns look dry but they were very fresh. The chocolate dessert was tasty too.

We like to leave the park, take a very short bus ride to AKL and eat at that resort's food court called The Mara. We love to get some kind of African stew in a breadbowl, a Falafel or chicken Pita (some cous cous on the side) and zebra domes for dessert. We enjoy getting out of the parks around lunch time and we'll rest on the rocking chairs on a balcony or couches in the lobby and then head back to the AK park--a quick bus ride back.

If we don't want to leave the park we go to Pizzafari if it's too hot or too cold outside because there is indoor seating.

We love to try and get a bar seat at the Yak and Yeti and just have a couple appetizers - the dim sum basket is great. Our kids are old enough where we can send them alone to Pizzafari to eat while we do that. It's very relaxing in there - the bar seats are so comfortable - and we do not like Pizzafari for ourselves!

I'm a big fan of the pulled pork at the Flame Tree Barbecue.

If my kids get food from the pizza place, can they bring it over to Flame Tree to eat it if me and my husband are eating at Flame Tree or vise versa?

We are also big fans of Flame Tree. We tried the picnic in the park last year and UCK! We will stick with Flame Tree from now on

We love Flame Tree. This time we are going to be in the park for both lunch and dinner so we are going to try Yak and Yeti for one of those meals. I hope it is good.

We love the Picnic in the Park and did it both trips last year. We got the ham, cucumber salad, mac and cheese and the fruit salad. Great variety and great locations to sit and have your picnic. It was one CS where we didn't feel our kids were eating chicken nuggets and applesauce again.

Yak and Yeti is a table service restaurant. But next door is the Anandapour Local Food Cafe (some people call that Yak and Yeti too), and that is the counter service. Highly recommend the fried rice and a couple of egg rolls if you like Chinese food.

How can someone whose location says NC not want to eat BBQ more than once a week?

Have you gone to allearsnet and looked through the menus? There might be enough of a variety you won't feel like you have had too much BBQ. I personally like that the kids meal at Flame Tree has something other than chicken nuggets/mac n cheese/pb & j. My kids like the drumstick and end up eating off of my plate too.

Yak and Yeti does have a CS restaurant. I think it is called Yak and Yeti Local Food Cafes. I want to try the food there, but my DH is a little reluctant.

Personally we like Restaurantasaurus. Yes it is burgers but they have other things too. But that is usually where I get my burger fix at. They have a nice toppings bar. Not as much on it as Cosmic Rays but still good.
